QUALITY ETC;
PROS: The magnifiers work perfect for me. They perfectly fit my adult-male semi-aviator style glasses (a similar series is available for smaller glasses Small Clear Clip-on Flip-up Magnifying Reading Glasses +1.50 Diopter). The construction quality is very good. They clip on securely, and provide exactly the magnification I wanted.
CONS: I suspect that the plastic will scratch relatively easily--so I baby them, I wash them with hand soap under running water, and dry them with a clean cotton cloth. The clear vinyl "slipcase" (that these glasses and clip-on sunglasses come in) cause "rub spots"---and indeed the magnifiers I bought have such a "rub spot"--but far off center where it doesn't matter. The point is, do NOT store the glasses in the vinyl slipcase---use an old padded eyeglass case, or buy one for the magnifiers. Although they weigh almost nothing, I notice the extra weight, and find it annoying.

THE NUMBERS
I'm a retired professional photographer---the following discussion is based on camera optics---human optics are much more complicated. "YOUR ACTUAL RESULTS MAY VARY"---as they say, because the following recommendations are a gross over-simplification. However, they can provide a starting point for you.

The formula is: new focus distance = 1 meter/diopter power. 1 meter = 40". So in inches, the formula is: new focus distance = 40"/diopter power
("X power" is generally used for hand-held magnifiers, not eyeglasses, and is different from "diopter power". 2x = +4 diopter power; 1.75x = +3 diopter power; 1.5x = +2.25 diopter power, etc.

Instead of purchasing jeweller's magnification headsets (which can also be uncomfortable as well as pricey), I decided to go for these. They are a very good value and they definitely work with what I'm doing (gem setting with 2mm).
They do however, make me feel dizzy if I don't flip them up off my prescription glasses when I look away from my working surface. I have to remember to do that before I look at something else.
My glasses are also noticeably heavier with these attached to them.
I am very glad I purchased these, they were a good choice and much more economical than other wearable magnification products.

The manufacturer tried to make a good product, and I do like them. They do have some issues though.

The lenses are much thicker than necessary, making them add more weight to your glasses than necessary. I bought them for close-up viewing of my camera's LCD display, and it works great for that, but they get way too heavy to wear for long. I strongly recommend visor-type magnifiers for extended use.

The part of these magnifiers that contacts the rear side of your prescription or sunglass lens is well padded. HOWEVER, the part that contacts the front side of your lens is made of molded hard plastic, and has mold burrs at the edges protruding towards the front side of your prescription or sunglass lens. At least one other reviewer missed this fact. I sanded these burred edges with fine sandpaper, making sure to clean off any residual abrasive that may have come off the sandpaper. I also put heat-shrink tubing over these, figuring it would probably be softer than the hard molded plastic. So far, no problems with scratching my prescription lenses. I never tried it with the bare, hard molded plastic though.
