Product Description

From the Manufacturer

PIPEROID is a paper craft robot designed and produced in Japan. The robot is made out of just five paper pipes with pre-drilled holes and marks to cut, fold, and connect the pipes without the need of glue or tape. All you need is a pair of scissors, and with minimal assembly you can bring your own PIPEROID to life! Robography: Smoke & Bill - Ninja Mates - Smoke is always serious and hard-working. His desire to master ninja techniques in a quiet and peaceful environment is often interrupted by Bill, who babbles all day long. Perhaps he's bored with the reality of a ninja life which isn't as exciting as the ones he's been fascinated by in the comic books.

I bought several of these for my 12 yr-old son and he has enjoyed putting them together. Some of the pieces are difficult to connect. There was a bit of frustration, but between the two of us we were able to finish them. Once done, he put them up on a shelf in his room. If they were played with, they probably wouldn't last long.

I started collecting these after finding them in a museum gift shop in NY. They are fun little things to build and take about 20 minutes total. I have 4 different sets and they have all been very well thought out and interesting to build and pose. I would recommend them to anyone who has an interest in modern Japanese culture or who wants to add some novelty to their office desk.

I would not recommend these for children though. The parts fit well, but can take patience to cut out correctly and the directions are clear but obviously not meant for anyone under the age of 12.

My 6 year old son received this from Santa, because Santa knows he loves robots. I put it together for him when my husband gave up. Very cute, but the joints & push-in pieces don't stay together well enough for this to be handled much at all. So nice to set on a shelf when you're done.
