Great Mill! - beware of the other review,

The reviewer does not understand that this is a salt mill. Steel grinders on cheaper salt mills will corrode eventually thus rendering the grinder useless. High end salt grinders use a NYLON grinder (not plastic as indicated again by the reviewer). This is one great mill that matches the pepper mill in highest quality.

As close to perfect as you can find,

Clearly, the first reviewer of this item has...shall we say...limited experience. Nylon grinding parts are essential for a salt mill that doesn't rust, corrode, or add bits of grunge to the output. Like the Magnum pepper mill, this product is THE BEST.

Great grinder to go with the Magnum pepper mill,

This is a great salt grinder, and it looks good next to the matching (and wonderful) Magnum pepper grinder. It also comes with a little matching tray that it sits on to catch any stray salt that might come out after using it.
Good salt grinders, like this one, use nylon grinding mechanisms because the salt quickly corrodes metal. Don't try to use peppercorns in a salt grinder as the rock hard corns will quickly destroy it. Salt is considerably softer, and will be fine. I highly recommend both the smaller Magnum peppermill and the larger Magnum Plus. They are the best peppermills on the planet, by far. Magnum Peppermill - 6-Inch Unicorn Magnum Plus Pepper Mill 9-in. Actually purchased this as a set with the 6" Magnum peppermill, but the salt grinder is really as good as it's highly raved about counterpart!! It grinds my sea salt superfine when needed - couldn't ask for better!!

The Magnum salt & pepper grinders surpass any brand I have tried. Their output per turn is incredible and the quality of both products is excellent.

Based on the other reviews, I decided to order this as part of a (matching) salt & pepper mill set. In addition to paying a premium for these matching salt and pepper mills, I paid quite a premium to get them shipped to NZ.
For the price, I was expecting a superior product. I was also expecting a reasonable level of support from the manufacturer, if needed. My expectations were not met. There was nothing impressive about it while it was working. In use it was no better or worse than the salt mill that was purchased from K-mart about 20 years ago; which now belongs to my ex-wife, who still uses it. Within a year of VERY LIGHT USE the salt mill is broken. One day I reached for it, grabbed the top, and the bottom half of the mill just fell over on the counter after the top came off in my hand. A $0.05 metal washer corroded from the salt. I contacted Unicorn Mills to seek a replacement salt mill, or at least a replacement washer. I included pictures of the broken salt mill showing how it was broken. At first I was told that their normal policy requires that I return the damaged salt mill, but since I'm in NZ they could just send a replacement. Cool. Then they changed their mind (and DIDN'T tell me; I was waiting for a replacement). After following up (it had been about a month since I was told they'd ship a replacement salt mill) they said they can't send a replacement until they receive the broken unit. Great, except that I can replace the set (with something that may actually last more than a year) for less than the cost of return shipping from NZ. I asked if they can drop a $0.05 washer in a $0.05 envelope and put a $1 stamp on it (I can fix it myself but I do need the part) but they are unwilling to provide even that level of support. They refused to even sell me a replacement washer. Now I've got a very expensive, broken salt mill, and ZERO reasonable support from the manufacturer. This will definitely be the last time I buy anything made by Unicorn Mills. For the price, I think it's reasonable for me to expect that they'd be reasonable. I think it would be reasonable if they can drop a washer in an envelope to support a customer on the other side of the planet. I can only suggest that others save their money and buy another brand. It's funny that the "Amazon Verified Purchase" reviews are not good. The other reviews are great.

does not work,

I don't know if the mill I bought is defective or if it simply doesn't work, but the salt comes out at such a tryingly slow rate that I've stopped using it. Turning the grind adjust doesn't change the situation. Seeing as how it costs a great deal of money I was expecting the Rolls Royce of salt grinders, but this is not even a bike with training wheels. On the other hand, I also have the companion pepper mill which works to a tee.

Like the matching peppermill, it delivers an excellent grind. It is easy to twist, fill and adjust. The 5.5" height is not too tall for table use.

Unicorn Great & Not too good,
This review is from: Magnum Salt Mill- 6-Inch
I LOVE the pepper mill and thought the salt mill would as good. I was completely disappointed! Worked OK for a day or two but then the nylon grinder does not hold up to sea salt crystals. I know salt eats steel but they could use stainless steel and have two GREAT products, not just one.

Best salt grinder we've used,

Tried several "high quality" salt grinders and this one's the winner. Bought the matching pepper one as a result. Each twist results in a very large amount of salt, so be careful with how much you use. Very smooth grinding action and very easy to keep clean.
