I asked for this camera for Christmas based of the first two positive reviews. That was a mistake. I really wanted this camera, and I really wanted this camera to be awesome, but it falls drastically short. I'll post both day and night photos which show the cameras shortcomings and more details below.
Build:
The camera feels cheap (which it is), but more like a toy than an inexpensive point and shoot. The body is entirely plastic, there is no cover for the lens, and the buttons are tiny and difficult to distinguish. On the positive side, the viewing screen isn't bad and it has a mount for a tripod built in.
Interface:
The interface is just painful. The camera beeps with ever action and I cannot find a way to shut off the sound. The instruction manual is a single page (front and back) and makes no mention of the beeping. There is no quick way to change exposure and one must dive into the menu to change anything but the zoom.
Picture quality:
I could have easily overlooked any issues with build and interface if this at least turned out some decent photos, but it does not. During the day, in standard (non-night vision) mode, photographs look no better than those taken on a cell phone from several years ago. Using night vision mode during the daylight does provide some interesting colors, but nothing beautiful or even impressive. Photographs look like an overexposed black-and-white image, nothing more. In the dark, the IR illuminator is placed so close to the lens than it interferes with focusing. I've only managed one shot out of twenty where the camera actually focused on the subject.
In summary, this is a great concept in a poorly executed package. Save your money and wait for something better to come out.
