This phone case is flexible and provides some measure of shock protection for the delicate SGS4. The clearance cuts for the microphone, charging port, antenna, headphone jack, speaker, camera and flash are all sufficient. The charge port and headphone jack port can be a tight fit with some plug-ins, but with a little extra push all of my chargers and headphone jacks work just fine. One thing I appreciate about this field case is that it desensitizes the lock screen/power button and volume buttons. I noticed that the power/lock button was exceptionally sensitive and required very little pressure to depress. This led to it draining the battery a little quicker than I expected when the phone rode in the cargo pocket of my jeans. The field case solved this problem without making the buttons too hard to actuate. I am looking forward to a long product life and seeing how well it holds up!
Overall, I am very happy with the MagPul product and am glad that I can support this awesome company in some way, seeing as how I don't own an AR-15 yet or buy any of their other products. Don't hesitate to support this all-American company by purchasing a superior product with excellent value!
UPDATE: 24 July 2014; Since the original purchase of the Magpul Field Case, I have relieved the charging/USB port just a bit. Use a sharp knife or hobby knife to bevel the port in the case and clean it up with a little sandpaper. It's not hard to do, and I still think this case was a worthy investment. I'm still going to give it a five-star rating due to its value and durability.
Close to a draw, but slight advantage with Magpul. Material is slightly thicker all around.
UAG is slightly thinner, so I prefer the feel of it. The Magpul has a slightly round-back feel, probably due to the bevel angle vs UAG. Some might prefer that. Both are grippy enough, though I felt the UAG had a little more grip. Both slide in and out of the pocket easily.
Magpul was flawless. Perfect even fit around edges. No chrome showing, fits tight. All ports are perfectly aligned with no left over flashing. UAG had everything aligned properly but there was some extra flashing around the headphone port I had to cut out.
The UAG has a taller edge to protect the screen, but it's molded to a point and I had to take a knife and shave it down due to discomfort while talking on the phone. The edge height also made it difficult to press the "back" and "menu" key at the bottom of the phone. Edge on the Magpul is sufficient for protecting the screen, and flat, making it more comfortable.
UAG buttons were perfect out of the box. magpul were very hard to press. UAG buttons are floating - only connected at certain points. The Magpul keys are connected most of the way around with thin material, with 1 or two thicker tabs. I took a razor and cut out all the thin material, so now they are similar to the UAG and function just as well.
Both look great. Magpul is more reserved but still looks unique enough. UAG is a bit flashy and aluminum letters came out.

The box comes with no instructions, and I think that is something they could improve, but not worth taking a star off of the review. This thing is light, sturdy, functional and sleek. It is everything I had hoped it would be.
After a year's use, the case has had it. It's totally stretched out of shape and no longer holds the phone in. I would guess that the extra effort required to push the stiff buttons on the case has caused the plastic to stretch. The case is now about 1/8 inch taller than it was originally. The corners are bulged. The phone pops out of the case every time I push a button now. The plastic on the top and sides is considerably softer (less stiff) than when it was new. It was cool while it lasted, but I will not buy another Magpul phone case.

Best tough case that doesn't add bulk. Dropped phone numerous times that would have made people with otterboxes shutter and came out without a scratch.Published 1 month ago by FreqPrimeBuyer
