Why not just buy Magpuls's 10-round mags for CA use, and use your 10+ mags out of state?
R. Jensen
And because the guns that these would go in are responsible for only 20 of the 11,000 gun murders (<% .5 of %1), they look SCARY!!!

I didn't bother modifying/filing them to make it work, instead I bought the correct ones for the Gen 3 mags.

These work perfectly, blocking 20 round pmags down to a tight 10 rounds. Unlike other home-made DIY solutions, these are easy, look clean and OEM from the outside, fit perfectly, and even have "10 round" stamped into the release button (the part that's visible through the baseplate) so you and everyone know it's a 10-round mag.

My only criticism is that the limiter needed to be down shaved EVER SO SLIGHTLY to allow the dust cover/cap to be installed when 10 rounds are inserted. Magpul is obviously erring on the side of caution, making sure you will ONLY be able to fit 10 rounds in. In doing so, there's just a TINY bit more clearance needed to get the dust cap to clip on easily. By carefully sanding a VERY small amount from the top of the lock (effectively shortening it) I was able to custom tune the tolerance to allow the cap while still only allowing 10 rounds. If you try this, beware - do not remove too much material or you'll render it useless.

Also, just a clarification for us Californians, even Magpul says that these don't (by themselves) turn a 20 round mag into a *CA legal* 10 round mag. The law says it must be "permanent" and this is far from permanent; you will still need to pin, rivet, or epoxy this to the baseplate (otherwise, you could easily open the mag, snap the block, and have an 11+ mag). Building a non-permanently-blocked mag is just as illegal as constructing an 11+ mag. I know a lot of you want to hang on to the dream of converting it back someday, but save yourself the felony and just glue the damn thing in. ;)

Works on 20 Round Pmags to make them 10 rounds. Will not make it Cali legal, in order for it to be Cali legal it has to be sealed somehow so that you need a tool to take apart the mag.

Magpul has hit a home run with these! First they make the worlds best 30 round clip, and then they make a little plastic insert to cut it's capacity by 2/3rds! We all know that no reasonable person needs 30 rounds, right? Say you are facing three or four individuals who have busted in your door in a home invasion. Sure, your going to miss more than half your shots because your scared for your loved ones, but it's so easy to reach for that pile of 10 (or 7 if your in NY) round magazines and change them lighting quick! I'm sure that the guys who broke in don't care about the laws and decided to carry the 30 round clips, but by all means YOU need to obey the law! So the bad guy probably has three or four 30 round mags (hey they have made millions of them in the last 10 years so it's not like they threw them away!), but again, YOU need to be legal! So in this completely irrational way of thinking that lacks all common sense, I'm glad Magpul has created this little gizmo to basically cut your nuts off and give the bad guy one more leg up on you and the survivability of the ones you love! And because the guns that these would go in are responsible for only 20 of the 11,000 gun murders (<% .5 of %1), they look SCARY!!! And a scary gun is a gun that will shoot without pulling the trigger and kill every kid in a 5 block radius! Great product, great company, stupid politicians!

It was kind of deceiving saying they will work on gen 3 mags-they won't seat correctly without modifying it. I didn't bother modifying/filing them to make it work, instead I bought the correct ones for the Gen 3 mags.

They require a little modification of the gen 3 mag to fit. A bit of material has to be removed from the base plate hole so the limiter fits. It would be easy to remove it and put the original back in, even with the modification.

There is a 10 round limit in the state i visited to hunt as a non resident. These worked great, requiring no magazine modification and is easily reversible.

Totally not worth it to buy. i had to shave down the bottom of the limiter for the end cap of the mag to snap in place and when it was in it only limited the mag to 12 which in CA is still illegal

These do not work "out of the box" for a Gen 3 20-Round PMAG. There was no indication of this in this description, unfortunately. You can get them to work with a minor modification to the base of the limiter, but if you don't have a good file to remove the material you won't be able to use this correctly and the protrusion on the base of the limiter won't seat properly into the floorplate.

After the modification it fits great. I love that it has a "10 ROUND" verbiage on the bottom of the limiter that protrudes from the base-plate to quickly identify the mags as 10-rounds.

Having used both these and the MagBlock, I would recommend the Magblock if you intend to use these on a Gen 3 PMAG 20. They require no modification to fit and work properly
