5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, but look for a sale
This toy is a LOT of fun. I bought a set for my 2-year-old so I could keep her away from the small parts in her older brothers "Magnetix" sets. Oddly enough, all three children actually prefer to play with THIS toy, including my 8 year old son. The magnets are pretty strong, and the addition of the eyes, antennas, and "feet" makes the toy very entertaining. My older...

2.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
I recently purchased this item for my daughter for christmas. She had played with a set at her friends house and loved it. After receiving my package I was surprised how small the box was. Upon opening I found that the set was very small despite being 41 pieces. It doesn't even come in any sort of storage container, just a brown cardboard box. I will be returning...

My older children like to make magnetic "pets", while my toddler likes to experiment with the magnetic properties. She has built creations on my fridge, under my kitchen stools, and on the side of the bath tub. This PARTICULAR set is pricey for what you get. I waited until I could get a set 50% off, which I thought was a fair price. If you can find them, the "Magnaminals" are adorable, and make great additions to the basic sets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Construction Set, December 26, 2006

This is the type of set I wish I had as a child. With limitless possibilities for combining the magnetic pieces and orbs, it is truly mesmerizing. My 4-year old builds large structures with it, but it is so easy that my 2-year has no trouble putting the pieces together. My husband even started using it to construct models of molecules,"here's what water looks like." And the extra pieces add an element of whimsey. In all, a truly inspired toy.

I will be returning this set and purchasing the set sold by Target (that is cheaper by the way.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Building and learning, December 13, 2007

I bought this toy for my four year old and after watching him play with his set bought another one for my kindergarten classroom. Learning about magnets as well as using their imaginations to come up with new creations every time, my students and my child never tire of this toy. I do wish there were more pieces, but plan to buy an add on set soon.

I got these for my son when he turned four and he still plays with it one year later. They are great quality and allow for creative, unstructured building fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not pleased with packaging, December 19, 2007

I am so upset with this purchase. This is for a Christmas gift and I received it in just a taped up plain cardboard box. There is no manufacture case/packaging as when purchased in the store. The price is excessive for the pieces received even though there are 40. Glad I only paid $19

The toy itself is recommended just not as a gift.
