5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome toy!
I bought this for my 10 year old nephew for Christmas and he absolutely loved it! It was the first toy he played with and he is still enjoying it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Magz-X
In comparison with GeoMag or Magnetix, Magz have by far the weakest magnets, and the material quality is inferior as well. Don't get me wrong, these may be fun, but your money would be better spent on one of the other products. They have a different scale as well. I won't return them, I would like to end up owning some of each of them to find out just which ones are...

In comparison with GeoMag or Magnetix, Magz have by far the weakest magnets, and the material quality is inferior as well. Don't get me wrong, these may be fun, but your money would be better spent on one of the other products. They have a different scale as well. I won't return them, I would like to end up owning some of each of them to find out just which ones are best. To this point GeoMag are the strongest, but the difference between them and Magnetix are not enough to worry about, but Magz may not even have half the magnet strength as the other two. If you want one of each brand, give this a try, if you are looking for a great product, GeoMag or Magnetix will be a better purchase.

Edit:

GeoMag rods will hold up to 6 consecutive steel balls
Magnetix will hold up to 4 consecutive steel balls
Magz will hold 3 consecutive steel balls

4.0 out of 5 stars Let it have some more pieces, December 27, 2007

I ordered this toy in order that my 7 years old son could improve his imaginagation. I think that this toy succeds in this mission. The only thing that is unfavorable is that it has not enough pieces. you have to order two or more to build sensible objects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for adults too!, June 29, 2010

There are so many different structures that can be made with this kit. The X-shaped pieces allow you to construct squares and cubes, which is not as easy with magnetic construction kits that only include straight magnets. The magnets in this set are stronger than in some similar sets I've tried that were made by other companies. This strength allows you to create taller structures without any fear of collapse. It would be nice if the set came with more pieces, but it looks like this company makes several other sets that are compatible with this one and would complement it well. I definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys building things, kids or adults alike!

I am a teacher and I bought these for my students. They LOVE them. They encourage them to be creative and inventive. I will buy more sets in the future. The only thing is you have to buy quite a few sets to be able to make bigger items. I just buy a few at a time and it's not too expensive.

Keeps my ten year old away from video games for some time. It is educational and recreational, what else can we ask for? Some advise: do not get the little balls wet, just in case, because we had another toy with similar metallic balls, which got rusted in a cleaning operation my 6 year old daughter did once.

We purchased this for an 80 year-old to keep his mind busy. He, as well as my 12 year-old, and my husband and brother, love playing with them. My only complaint is that the pieces accidentally come apart a little too easily and the silver balls roll away alot.

These are really fun for kids and adults. The kids spend hours creating elaborate patterns with the colored sticks and balls and make toys for themselves like spinning tops. They are pretty young, and I watched them learn about magnetic attraction and repulsion without being told. The grown-ups make really elaborate structures using the X pieces. Based on the reviews, we bought two big sets right off the bat, and I'm glad that we did. Even with two sets, we still run out of pieces pretty quickly when we're all playing with them together or trying to build something big. We're planning on buying a few more sets. The X pieces really help to make structures stable, and can be used to make many shapes other than just cubes. We may also get the Webz pieces (which are compatible with the Magz-X sets) to add to our arsenal of pieces.

I seems to be a nice toy, and my kid agreed. He loved playing with it. Really nice to create 2D and 3D figures just joining magnetic pieces (X-s, bars and balls). Be careful with small kids (under 3) because they can eat them.
