I have a number of downloads and versions of this game, but love my Nintendo DS and thought this would be a great addition. The game itself is enjoyable, but the graphics are terrible. Very tiny and you have to spend all your time trying to really keep a focus on the tiles. There is no way that I can find to change the style of the tiles and that is also disappointing.
So overall if you don't care about the clarity of what you are spending tons of time looking at then good game. On a scale of 1-10 the graphics are about a 2.

I am an adult gamer who apparently is getting up in age where I am starting to need reading glasses.
I have played MahJong online on my PC many times and enjoyed it. When I found out they made one for the DS, I was excited! I was shocked that the tiles were so small that I couldn't tell the differences. I have less then perfect vision and only need reading glasses. Since I haven't bought a reading glasses yet, I can barely read the tiles. It was too much of a strain trying to recognoize tiles. After about 1/2 hour my eyes got used to the tiles and was able to see the differences and played. Then it became fun to play. It's a shame they had to make the tiles so small making it hard for those who have less than perfect vision. I'll see how I feel once I get reading glasses. If that doesn't help the strain, I will sell the game back out.

For several years now, I've been a very big fan of Mahjong. I don't play it too often, but I did get my DS so I'd have something to do when waiting at the Dr's offices, waiting for people to arrive at places, etc. This was one of the first games I bought for my DS and I have not been disappointed. Even the timer seems to last forever, so that is helpful for keeping the stress level down. The only downfall I can see is that the "classic" mode is not really the classic mahjong I remember, but it's still tons of fun. Even on easy mode, it's still quite challenging.
This is a great game for someone (like me) who has ADHD and cannot stand sitting still for even short periods of time. This was recently proven when I had to go pick up a friend from the airport. We only had to wait about 15 minutes for his luggage to arrive, but it's difficult for me to stay still and not become agitated for that long with my ADHD. This game helped to keep me calm and able to wait patiently.

I am a huge computer Mah Jong fan and thought it would be fun to have the game on my ds. Wrong! I realize the ds doesn't have the biggest screen in the world, but the tiles on this game are so minscule you can barely see them, let alone which one they are. I've looked and so far haven't found any way to enlarge them. If the makers of the game had tried, they could have made the game patterns fit with slightly larger pieces. I don't wear glasses (or need them) and have good eyesight and these tiles are just too tiny. All you can do is squint at them and try to guess if two of them really are the same. The game would be fun if you could see it, but I've tried for several days and just can't get into it because of the tile size.

Overall, I really like this game. I have played Mahjong on the computer and my GBA (which I can seem to find anymore) for years and was looking for a version for DS.
I like that you have the option of playing the progessive game or just the traditional puzzles. I tend to get stuck on the "quest" puzzles so being able to switch back and forth between the quest and the regular puzzles keeps me interested. Others have complained about the size of the tiles but considering the size of the screen, what can you expect? I find it really isn't that bad, you get used to it. I can honestly say that this is one of my most played games.

I want to say that I, too, have less than good eyesight ... but I wanted this game because I love these types of games and no other system since Lynx and the early Game Boy has had a game like this available. Those systems had "Shanghai" a form of Mah Jong. Let me tell you...THOSE screens WERE small and kinda blurry too!
At first I had a bit of trouble seeing the tiles, but after I got used to the complex designs of the tiles and got used to what I was seeing, and able to see the differences in them, it got easier and it is one of my favorite games. I really wish I could turn the timer off because I like to leisurely play games of this nature without the stress of hurrying up...but still ... I wouldn't part with it. For me, it's a definite keeper. I'm just glad that this game is available. I think there needs to be more of this type of game as well as more card games and traditional type games for adults. I highly recommend this game but I would advise those of you with less than perfect eyesight to give it some time to get used to it. It's not a game you can just sit down and immediately master. It takes a while to get used to the tiles ... but once you do, you will really enjoy it.

Just received the game today, and will put it back in the box and write off as a poor choice. Not only do you need a magnifying glass to play the game, but you really need one to read the little book that comes with it. I thought the mahjong game in Touchmaster was a little hard to decipher....this one is impossible for my 72 year old eyes. Yes, even with my reading glasses on.

I like Marjong and thought I would try this game as a diversion from the brain gamesI play daily. I wasn't sure how it would work on the small screen. I was pleasantly surprised it worked fine. There are three main types of games with several levels. The challenges are there with time limits, but I mainly play it without those restrains. Since I am somewhat handicapped, it gives me the practice of eye-to-hand coordination as I enjoy the game. I recommend it for those who like marjong on the run.

I love playing Mah Jong on the internet and was anxious to receive this DS version. However I was very disappointed when it arrived. Tiles and characters on the tiles are EXTREMELY SMALL - infact, so small that I could not distinguish the detail of most. This was a total waste of money for me.

This game is so addicting that it's a wonder I get anything else done. I've always loved playing Mahjong on line, so I was thrilled when it came out for the Nintendo DS. Granted, it is a bit small, but you get used to it very quick. It's really a lot of fun and I'm not at all disappointed. If you love Mahjong, then you'll love Mahjong Quest.Mahjong Quest
