This is one awesome cookbook! Recipes are easy to follow. Turn very inexpensive cuts of meat into very tasty dishes. This is one very interesting book either for the recipe content or the Mahalia Jackson collection. Includes pics of Mahalia preparing these tasty recipes in her kitchen. Sure to please.

While the cookbook title is "Cooks Soul" there are many different types of recipes that are loved by everyone. I found soul food, some of the best recipes "from the package back," and some everyday favorites. I'd lost my original copy purchased in 1980, and was so glad to find an old copy of this treasured cookbook on sale. It was like greeting and old long lost friend, without all the food stains!
