Another Amazing book from AJ Quinnell !!!!,
By
This review is from: The Mahdi (Hardcover)
Again, Quinnell just find a way to amaze me with this book. The whole plot was pretty cool with trying to creat a "Mahdi" and to use him to run the middle east. The start kind of worried me a little cause it gos into history about the middle east, CIA, KGB and MI6... But it picked up quickly, and right to the VERY end, I loved it. There characters were great, I loved Gemmell and almost hated Hawke, but thats just me.All in all, another truely amazing book from a truely amazin author... Plese check out his other books if you can find them !!!

One of the best endings ever ! ! ! !,
This review is from: The Mahdi (Mass Market Paperback)
Without a doubt, this book has one of the best endings I have ever read. It's been years since I read this book, but I still remember the "wow" of the ending.
The book itself is an above average thriller, very much ahead of its time as to the topic, and very timely for the geopolitical realities of today. All in all, well worth the price, and considering the amazing ending it's one book you will remember for a long time.

Good Quinnell book, not his best book,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Mahdi (Hardcover)
Perhaps, I have been spoiled after reading Quinnells Creasy books, all five of them. I expected more action, but this book did not leaving me wanting to keep turning pages to see what was coming next. I thought the book moved a little slow until the last few chapters when thing really got moving and the action picked up a bit.
The last page will blow your mind. Not what you would expect. There was the usual Quinnell femme fatal that dies in the book as most of the women in his books. Over all, a good book.

This 'novel' really makes you think...,

This review is from: The Mahdi (Hardcover)
It's the 3rd sentence from the end that will make your jaw drop with a mixture of suspended disbelief and revelation, and tell you that this is perhaps the greatest story you've just read, not least because you can't help wondering if it isn't in fact an expose of the way Central Intelligence really does work, and why the author consequently chooses to use the pseudonym.

A perfect plot for the present Islam Phobia,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mahdi (Mass Market Paperback)
Great insight into the functioning of the Islamic mind topped up with the ultimate in British Intelligence. It takes about thirty pages to get into it, but then you read it in one go. Great for all observers of Sauudi Arabia and the muslim psyche.Muslims all over the world accept miracles readily, particularly when the miracle is associated with Haj. Quinnel has performed the perfect miracle. |
