5.0 out of 5 stars Another Amazing book from AJ Quinnell !!!!, March 30, 2005
By
This review is from: The Mahdi (Hardcover)
Again, Quinnell just find a way to amaze me with this book. The whole plot was pretty cool with trying to creat a "Mahdi" and to use him to run the middle east. The start kind of worried me a little cause it gos into history about the middle east, CIA, KGB and MI6... But it picked up quickly, and right to the VERY end, I loved it. There characters were great, I loved Gemmell and almost hated Hawke, but thats just me.
All in all, another truely amazing book from a truely amazin author...
Plese check out his other books if you can find them !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best endings ever ! ! ! !, April 29, 2010
This review is from: The Mahdi (Mass Market Paperback)
Without a doubt, this book has one of the best endings I have ever read. It's been years since I read this book, but I still remember the "wow" of the ending.

The book itself is an above average thriller, very much ahead of its time as to the topic, and very timely for the geopolitical realities of today.

All in all, well worth the price, and considering the amazing ending it's one book you will remember for a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Quinnell book, not his best book, December 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Mahdi (Hardcover)
Perhaps, I have been spoiled after reading Quinnells Creasy books, all five of them. I expected more action, but this book did not leaving me wanting to keep turning pages to see what was coming next. I thought the book moved a little slow until the last few chapters when thing really got moving and the action picked up a bit.

The last page will blow your mind. Not what you would expect. There was the usual Quinnell femme fatal that dies in the book as most of the women in his books.

Over all, a good book.
