5.0 out of 5 stars Fetish and Erotica for a new age, February 20, 2004
By
The Maid for All Seasons series is an exciting blend of erotica and fetish based in a plot line that is written not to frame the sexual scenes but to drive them. O'Neill has taken a taboo subject and written it not only for men but for women as well. Not crass or harsh it focuses on those subtle nuances that will appeal to women, though men will enjoy the theme and detail given to the story's more basic desires. Written the way foreplay should feel this series should establish a fan base that crosses gender and lifestyle boundaries.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must" for the spanking fan!, February 12, 2003
Devlin's first novel is a definite 'must-read' for the spanking fan. The characters are believable, as is the dialogue. You'll laugh and cry with Lisa...and you'll feel every swat she gets.

Now that the book has been selected for book club distribution by Venus Books and Doubleday Books, I'm sure that it won't be long before Devlin O'Neill becomes a best-selling author.

Keep up the good work, Devlin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbeatable spanking tales, June 4, 2004
By A Customer
Chapter by chapter, volumes 1 and 2 just get better and better and I can hardly wait for volume 3! I'm torn between wanting to read on and on past my bedtime (uh oh!) or limiting myself to one delightful chapter at a time. If you've ever found a spanking story arousing -- or have wished to be involved in adult spanking -- this is the series for you. The spanking activities and reactions of all involved are quite realistically presented and the characters grow and achieve more depth throughout the series. The author really does understand the female point of view, but I can attest that it comes from his being a wonderfully bright and funny, safe, sane, and consensual, experienced male top who definitely knows how to spank a bottom!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read...lots of spanking and discipline!, January 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This only got 4 stars from me instead of 5 because it really could have been sexier, but still...I'm so looking forward to reading the other books in this series! I can't wait to find out what happens next between all the characters!

Lisa is working as a maid for Mr. Swayne, who disciplines her with corporal punishment whenever she fails to meet his standards. This turns her on, but almost all the sex in this volume is between her and Beth, another one of Mr. Swayne's employees. Those scenes are certainly enjoyable, and there is some spanking between Beth and Lisa as well, but I look forward to seeing more sex mixed with her spankings from Mr. Swayne in further volumes. The spanking scenes were great, good variety and certainly exciting, I just would have preferred more overt sexuality. And there was some spanking between Lisa and her father that I REALLY could have done without! But that being said, I am very eager to read the next volume in this series! Would definitely recommend this book to any spanko :)

I do have a complaint about the editing. The constant "would of", "should of", "could of" instead of "have" really jarred me. That mistake is one of my biggest pet peeves, so it really bothered me. WHY isn't erotica better edited? I have read so many books with so many glaring spelling and grammar errors. Anyhow, if you're into spanking, this book is fun enough to overlook the mistakes, but it is something to be aware of if grammar errors bother you!
