4.0 out of 5 stars A great collection of Maid Marian episodes!, August 27, 2001
By
Originally made for BBC childrens tv, you get the impression that perhaps this programme isn't just for the kiddies, and in fact, it's not. There are some very funny one liners and jokes that kids just wouldn't grasp. Written by and starring Blackadders 'Baldrick' Tony Robinson, the humour and added 'twists' to the 'normal' Robin Hood stories, make it enjoyable for all ages. The programme has some unusal hereos, one being Red Dwarf's Danny John Jules as the rastafarian Barrington, and some mindnumingly stupid baddies played by David Lloyd and Mark Billingham as the Sheriff of Nottingham's sidekicks, (who both have GCSE's in killing, maiming and chewing people's heads off might I add..) Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best British comedy you will ever see, July 6, 2001
By
Siege_B (Queensland, Australia) - See all my reviews
This is not only one of the best British comedies of all time, it is also the best treatment of the Robin Hood legend I have ever seen. This television series was singularly brilliant, and is stocked to bursting point with great lines like "'You can't call him the Creamy-Beigy Knight, it's rediculous.' 'You certainly can't call him the White Knight - it's a zonking great fiberoonie!'" Maid Marian is the hero of this tale, with Robin a simpering, pretty-boy tailor who accidently get's mistaken for the leader. The rest of the merry men are described as a "Rasta, a wally, and a bearded avocado", describing a Jamacan (bizzarre, but true), an incredibly stupid man and a violent dwarf. Some of the most classic characters didn't come into the series until after the episodes in this video, but it's still pretty cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars I totally recommend this video, August 27, 2001
A Kid's Review
This is one of the two best videos I have ever seen - The other is Maid Marian and her Merry Men: How the band got together! This video includes the episodes 'The miracle of St Charlene' 'The sharp end of a cow' and 'The whitish knight'. If you love the show this video is a must as the BBC haven't shown these episodes in years. This video includes episodes first shown in 1989 and is the last video produced by the BBC
