Book Description

Bailey inherits her grandfather’s business, Maid For You, but cleaning up dead body parts wasn’t part of the job description. Bailey hopes to wipe out crime with the help of Nate, her computer hacker assistant, despite protests of their involvement in the case from Detective Max Wellington.

As the threads of deceit unravel, the murders begin to break out like a case of Bubonic Plague. Bailey uncovers deception, corruption and a few secrets that may forever change her life.

Bailey is a Christian, struggling to keep on the path she knows is right, fighting the temptation of the hunky Detective Max Wellington, who would like nothing more than to take her into protective custody, for more than just interfering in police business.

I hope that you will enjoy the first four volumes of Maid For Murder in this collection and stay tuned—Bailey isn’t out of trouble yet!

"What I loved about this book is that a writer can have a great story line, with laughs, giggles and mystery, without being sexually explicit. There were laugh out loud moments! Can't wait for the next book!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, but some issues. November 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book had very high customer ratings, so I was really looking forward to it. It was a fun, humorous book, but I did have a couple of issues with it. The ending was quite odd, not really clearing things up. That may be due to the book going to have a sequel, but I literally kept trying to turn a page (on my Kindle Fire) because it felt like there should be at least another page or two. My BIGGEST issue is the main character. Bailey does a lot of "talking the talk" without much "walking the walk". She talks constantly about how she can't be with Max due to him not being a Christian, but really isn't trying very hard to stay away from him. She knows he's very interested in her sexually which she won't give in to, but then parades herself with him at a casino in a dress that's too tight ("...tonight I'd squeezed my size eight body into a size six dress.") I'm sorry, but that's just wrong. That's like telling an alcoholic it's wrong to drink while waving a bottle of booze under his nose all night. To make it worse, they're at a casino and he wants them to gamble so they can talk to people without them getting suspicious. She refuses to play herself ("I don't gamble.") but has no problem playing the part of his floozy girlfriend, being all over him. That is a hefty double standard, and it really bothered me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maid for Danger and Romance November 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Bailey Tucker has inherited a cleaning business from her grandfather, but that's about as far as the good news goes.
It seems everything she does ends in disaster and her curiosity isn't helping things.
Happening upon a pair of dead bodies makes her look pretty guilty to handsome police detective Max Wellington.
The two strike sparks off one another from the beginning. The repartee is fun to read and the romantic tension is obvious.
Bailey is highly attracted, but her faith restrains her from making an impulsive mistake.
Will they ever get together? Will Max ever trust Bailey's investigative instincts? Will Bailey get out of this story alive?
Author Susette Williams keeps the reader hooked until the very end.
The sequel can't come quickly enough.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to love it... but very poorly written November 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A cute idea, and it's fun to find light Christian mystery fiction, but this book is very poorly written and not well developed. Though the main character is likable enough, I just can't believe her. Her initial presumption that she can't date Max because he isn't a Christian is initially based on nothing. Her parents weren't both Christians initially, which apparently doesn't matter. Character responses to her totally inappropriate snooping is unbelievable ....Her flippant and irresponsible behavior is extraordinarily immature at best ... Just not well-developed in character or story, and NOT a book to hold up as a positive example of Christian fiction. Disappointing all around.

1.0 out of 5 stars This was one of the worst books I've ever read. November 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am mystery fan. And while I appreciate there was no swear words in this book, I felt like the Christian stuff was an add-on, as one reviewer said, she was talking but not walking. As for the abrupt ending, bizarre! The only reason I kept reading was to try to figure out what was going on? As for the heroine, her stubborn persistence in putting herself in harm's way was just stupid. Finally, but most importantly, the writing was terrible, choppy, I felt it had been written in segments and then jammed together with any effort at editing to make a cohesive whole. Sorry, it was pretty bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining mystery with a light romance March 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Bailey Tucker just inherited her grandfather's cleaning business. Things start out bad when the cops think she murdered someone and stayed around to wait for the cops. She was cleaning and found the bodies. Eventually things get cleared up and it seems all is well, but one day Bailey is cleaning outside of the mortuary and finds a severed hand. She calls her handsome detective friend Max. He thinks she joking, but soon realizes she is not.

Max is a goodlooking guy and doesn't become involved with Bailey until he thinks she is no longer part of the case. They are both attracted to each other, but Max isn't Christian and Bailey hasn't made it to church since she moved there. She enjoys being with him, but she's also afraid of being with him, due to her brother marrying a girl who was not of their faith.

The book is a lot of fun and Bailey is nosy, she snoops around a lot into the ongoing murder investigation.. So much in fact that Max is threatening to hide her away for her own protection.

If you want a fun mystery and a lighthearted romance you will enjoy this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kinda confused... March 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I often felt confused because the author seemed to jump around randomly. Several times I went back trying to figure out what I'd missed. I did want to read to the end and find out who did what, but I'm still pretty confused about who did what and why.

There is much repetitive action so somewhat boring. Had lots of loose ends which never tied together. Good premise but not well developed.

The ending
I read it and from what I understand, you're not supposed to know all the details yet. It was a cliffhanger. I plan to read the next book so I can find out the rest of the story. It's just not available yet.
