For Christina Lindberg completists, this DVD will certainly fill
a void. Of course, if you've seen any of Miss Christina's other
films from this period, you pretty much know what to expect.
It's another Swedish coming-of-age 'sexual awakening' picture,
so the pace is pretentiously deadly and the acting likewise.
But the real beef I have with the dvd is the transfer. It's
full frame, washed out, and a little dark. You know you're
in trouble when the theatrical trailer (included on this disc)
looks 80% better than the actual feature presentation. However,
there is a major coup here with the 2008 video interview with
the usually low-profile and reclusive Miss Lindberg, who now
has to be pushing sixty at least. Unfortunately, the interviewer
doesn't really know how to coax reminiscences out of her, so she
really doesn't have a whole lot to say about her body of work.
She put me in mind of another famous Swedish actress (Greta Garbo)
from Hollywood's Golden Age who just 'vanted to be left alone'.
Surprisingly, she admits she was only in the movie business for
2-3 years, during which she made over 25 films. Anyway if you're
interested in becoming familiar with Christina Lindberg's work,
I would recommend films like 'Anita' or 'Exposed' - both of which
are now available on dvd as well.

The negative reviewers have watched this film in the wrong state of mind, or they disapprove of hot girls and nudity. Perhaps they are uncomfortable with their own physical reactions to this provocative and sensual film. Thick accents and weird acting add to the surreal atmosphere. Christina Lindberg is a delicious piece of pastry.

One of those Sleazy softcore latenight poor quality flicks, only plus side is fast forwarding to the good stuff, other than that pure bore and bad quality even on Netflix! Recommended for Pervs, but storyline is boring and I am sure no one watches it for the story but why Softcore? Why not watch Hardcore instead?? :)

The cover and the write up for this movie is misleading. There is no softcore scenes or erotic feel to this movie. It sucks, the movie thriller a cruel picture was pretty good, but far as I can tell thats Christina Lindbergs only good movie. Not worth watching and definately not worth buying.

Put simply, this films stinks! Don't waste your time or money. The film lacks development and does not deliver as promised. I only give it 1 star bucause I need to rate it in order to post a review. Skip this one.

Maid in Sweden is arguably the film debut of 1970s sexploitation and big-bust print and film icon Kristina Lindberg. One version goes that Kristina Lindberg was a student in Stockholm and working as a part-time model to help pay her tuition when her photograph, published in a Swedish magazine, brought her to the attention of the producer of Maid in Sweden. Her screen test was so successful that she was immediately signed for the film's leading role, that of an innocent young girl who leaves her rural home to spend a weekend in Stockholm where she has a series of romantic adventures as she discards the frustrations of her small-town environment.

The plot as described by one enthusiastic Kristina Lindberg fan - When innocence is confronted by unthinking passion, it is inevitably tarnished. Such is the poignant story of lnga-a sensitive and tasteful portrayal of a young pretty girl who discovers that life is not a large home in the country with school every day, and an occasional movie with her boyfriend. Inga goes to Stockholm to spend a weekend with her older sister, Grete. She is shocked to discover that Grete and her boyfriend, Casten, are living together and that she is expected not only to accept the situation, but also join in hiding it from her parents. That night, Inga dreams of being picked up by a Lesbian and of an attack by a group of young toughs. Her very first night out in Stockholm, her date, a friend of Grete's takes full advantage of her naiveté, and lnga loses her virginity to him. Afraid and ashamed to tell her sister what has happened, but eager to see Bjorn again, she arranges to meet him secretly. She returns to Grete's apartment both physically and mentally exhausted. The next day, her last in Stockholm, as she prepares to go home, Casten, who has been suspicious of her activities all weekend long, intrudes while she is bathing. After weak protests, she lets herself be seduced by her sister's boyfriend. Inga then returns home to her parents, having gained more experience than she should; being forever changed by the harshness of her exposure to life.

This was an OK movie until "16-year-old" Kristina Lindberg is raped by an older man and the next morning instead of calling the police she tells the rapist that she's "sorry for being so childish" . Then she starts dating the guy!!!!! Then before she goes back home, she's raped by her sister's boyfriend!?!? This was billed as a coming of age story and I find it hard to believe this was OK in Sweden, even in 1971. Before you perves who are into rape scenes lay down your money, the rapes, and the movie as a whole, has very little nudity. So take a pass on this movie.

A young lady is taken in as a nanny and maid servant. We go through the young lady's growth in the affairs of an unsheltered life. Part of this new growth involves understanding what personal relationships are, how to become a part of one, how to walk away from one and how to tear one asunder. To obey an employer in all things, even sexual is learned the hard way by personal involvement.

16 year old Inga goes to visit her sister, Greta, in the big city and promptly finds out the "mystery of life" thanks to a sculptor. Greta's live-in boyfriend has some ideas himslf, but with Greta around, what can he do? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.
