This review is from: Maiden Bound (Kindle Edition)
I was very prepared to love this story, as I really loved the author's other book His Saxon Slave, but in my opinion Maiden Bound is just not as good. Like His Saxon Slave, this story does have the captive/sex slave theme going on as well as the same historical setting (both of which I love), but with this story the author lets me down by not showing me a solid love affair between h/H.
While there are some great sex scenes and some potentially interesting and fulfilling characters, this story is missing the love connection I wanted to feel between Hugh and Emma. I think that the development of any love feelings between h/H was too uninvolved and kind of uninspiring. Sure, Hugh and Emma decide to be together, to live HEA, but I need for the arrival to that point and to that decision to make sense. HEA doesn't quite have a punch when there is not a lot of romantic feeling to back it up. The author can say it's there but I need to feel it in order to believe it. The love/romance aspect of this story could have been stronger, which, I feel, would have made the overall story stronger, at least for me anyway. I have to call this an okay/average read and just not what I was hoping for from this author. For me, this story is missing a fully realized romance. |
