My problems before this bra:
narrow shoulders, sore back, trigger finger (yes really - tendon related), beginning to get difficult to connect back closing bras.
IF you are going from a back closing bra to a T-back or Racer back bra then you will probably need to change size as well.
I was a 34D. I fit this as a 34DD.
If your band size is comfortable at the smallest length,(the closure furthest in leaving 2 hanging over (not used)) then stick with your current band size. IF you are on the last eyelet with no room to expand go up another band size.
If you fit well at D then go up to DD. Hope that helps. If you're use to racer backs and know your size with them then stick with it.
It has a thin pad layer for no grocery store freezer mishaps. ;0
This is my Favorite bra!!!!

i can wear between a 34 or 36 C. because there is only one hook and no adjustment, i bought [and kept] the 34 C. it's a little on the small size and were i to by another, i'd go w/the larger size. unlike others, i have to say that the front closure is very easy. the lace is slightly in the way, but really, it takes 2 seconds. the bra is very comfortable and the lace isn't overly stretchy so there is a good firm fit. it also looks lovely. but i recommend examining the backs of the clothes you plan to wear it with. the back isn't small and is does show on some of the racerback dresses/tops i have.

so because it seems to run a little small and it does have a lot of fabric in the back, i gave it 4 stars. but it gives great support and is comfortable and very attractive. amazon also has it at a price significantly lower than many online stores. so buy it here!

I am so glad I read the reviews- this DOES run small. I ordered both a 40C and a 40 D because of the reviews here- the 40 D is wonderful. On those days when my boobs seem to shrink up- you know how they vary, just like our fingers- I'll wear the 40C- but mostly, the 40D will be my go to bra. This is a super comfortable bra. There seem to be some quality issues on the way the lace trim is sewn- so maybe these are 2nds, I don't care. The price (under 20) was awesome, and the fit is fabulous. I had a tiny bit of cut in from the cup on the 40C (when the cup causes a slight bulge in the top of the breast), but the 40 D is perfect- no empty space, no bulge. The back is generous and comfortable, and doesn't seem to cause back bulges- which I hate. It's very comfortable under the arm- but there is a wire that goes pretty high, so if you carry weight under the arm- where the arm meets the torso- I think this bra would be uncomfortable for you. I have no problems with the closure, but I'm used to front closure bras- and this one seemed very easy (and I've paid so much more for other racerbacks!). I think breast shape would be an issue with these. High, round breasts would fit this bra best. I think if you have a lot of breast that is longer, or have breasts which spread to under your arm, this bra will NOT work for you. Also, it's tight in the back- very snug fitting- meant to be that way- so if you carry fat on your back, this bra would not be comfortable, and I think it would probably cause some nasty bulges, which would be unsightly under tops. The straps are not wide- so if you get shoulder pain from thin straps, you might want to think twice about these. i don't have that problem, so I know I'll be fine- but I can definitely feel the straps- and I have friends who need the weight of the strap distributed over a wider area, via a padded wide bra strap.

I bought the beige bra and found it to be true to size - 36C. It is very comfortable and I did not notice any difference in the band size as described in another review. The cups are soft and supportive. I am back to buy another in black.

So this is my first racerback bra. Hit my 50's and gained a little weight so I have these dents in my shoulders I want to get rid of. I am a DD. I went looking for a racer back so the strap hits in another part of my shoulder. By the way, as soon as I put this on there is less stress on my neck and upper back - so bonus. Its possible you should go up a size on this bra, I had to go up a size. This is a very nice bra and well made. However, I did purchase mine at Kohl's because I did try to buy on Amazon and ended up with something $50 and does not fit after returning it once. There is some padding I don't care for because I am already a DD but the lace is soft and stretchy and very comfortable. Although this is a full coverage (in my size) bra on the sides it is very low cut in front. Very nice bra, I will buy another on Amazon because the price is awesome. I will come back and edit if the bra does not hold up. Some bras stretch out quickly. I also Like that I can adjust the straps while the bra is on, something you can't always do with back closure bras.

Update 8/29
So I have worn this bra a few times and just want to add one comment. For those of you with a large cup size; the straps are not as comfortable as some other bras. There is no padding on your shoulder. So I can not wear for a long period of time.

It fits perfectly and is very comfortable. The front closing took some getting used to using, but after a week or so it slips easily in and out. I love the racer back , no more falling straps.

Not sized the same as other maidenform/lilyette bras. Runs VERY small - size up!

Otherwise, lace was very pretty in the back. The search for the perfect t-back bra continues...

Being in my 50's, I need support and these front closure bras give me that. They have some padding which being a size b....I really like. I bought one, then went back and bought another!!

Fits well (no sagging or pinching!), the lace on the back looks lovely, and the polka-dot pattern is really cute. Works well with racer-back tees and dresses. Some front-fastening bras chafe in the front, but this one does not. Love it!

Update: After chasing my son around for a day I realized this bra has a spillage problem too. If they made a DDD cup, that would probably fix it. Going up a band size is not an option because this one doesn't adjust around the band. So I ask again, WHY? Why can't they make a good racer back for a larger size....the hunt continues.

Great for larger cup sizes. I have tried several million racer back bras and they all have had a spillage problem to varying degrees, but this bra has extended coverage so it will hold you in!
