Having said that, these wallets were really made for style. They're for everyday use, not exactly a businessman's wallet. So, yeah, the designs are crisp, cool, and should not disappoint, as the designs are perfectly portrayed on the fiber.
However, it's hard to argue for the design of the wallet itself when it comes to holding your stuff. First, it's hard to know where to put things. I tried to put my credit cards in the side pockets, but found that it was far too easy for them to slide out with the slightest momentum. So I ended up putting everything up top and in-between the internal compartments (note that there are only two internal pockets, which is just not good enough). If you put your cash and maybe a couple of business cards in the top compartments and your various cards in the two inner compartments, it'll stay as it should--but because there are only two inner compartments, you're always forced to take out *everything* at once in that compartment, because there is no way to sort these. Functionally, it's pretty much a disaster. But if you're not the type to carry around a lot of cards, well, it's not a big deal.Read more ›
Its design is obviously whimsical and is often a conversation starter (people at first think that I am being cheap by using an airmail envelope for a wallet, instead of having a real one), it's thin enough to fit comfortably in your back or front pockets.
My only problem with it is that Tyvek is slippery. This means that it can slip out of the back pocket of your pants/jeans rather easily, and that the cards that it holds come flying out every now and then if you don't grab it the right way. It slipped out of my pocket three times at least (in a friend's car, on the bus, in a restaurant), and I was very very lucky that the people that found it on each occasion had enough integrity to contact me and give it back to me.
Would I buy one again? I probably would mostly for the whimsy of the printed designs, but I need a more secure way to hold my cash and cards.
Problem is the thing is slick. You have to constantly be mindful not to spill all your cards everywhere when handling it. Especially with the 2 card pockets opening to the outside. The over-sized, expansive nature of the wallet doesn't help in this regard. Maybe if they could engineer a new design where all the card slots open upwards like the bill pockets, it wouldn't be such an issue.
