Book Description

MAIL-ORDER BRIDES OF THE WEST is a collaborative series by USA Today bestselling author Caroline Fyffe and New York Times bestselling author Debra Holland.

Mail-order-bride-to-be Heather Stanford dreads the day the matron of the St. Louis bridal agency finds her a husband and sends her west. Heather actually has no desire to marry; she just wants to free her struggling family from the financial burden of another mouth to feed. Still, she holds true to her plan when the fateful day arrives and Mrs. Seymour sings the praises of her prospective groom. Heather girds herself to leave behind all she holds dear, and wonders if anyone can live up to the matron’s glowing description.

After a mill accident leaves Hayden Klinkner’s father injured, he’s faced with the challenge of a huge order to fill—short-handed—on a tight timeline. Further complicating matters, the handsome, dyed-in-the-wool bachelor discovers his meddling mother has a surprise to share with him—a wife! With the pressure he’s under, a wife—even one as lovely and suitable as Heather Stanford—is the last thing he needs. Y Knot, Montana is set abuzz when the “Mail-Order Bride Done Wrong” goes back on the market and every eligible man for miles around is interested. Hayden’s eyes are now opened, but can he convince Heather he’s a changed man? Can he win back her heart before she says “I do” with someone else?

See Debra Holland’s companion book Mail-Order Brides of the West: Lina to find out what happens to Heather’s friend and fellow mail-order bride when she travels to Sweetwater Springs, Montana to become the wife of widower Jonah Barrett.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

People often ask what inspires me. What gets my thought process humming so I can write? The answer is everywhere I go and everything I see. Every conversation seems to have me thinking, that needs to go into a book. I spent my childhood reading such greats as Jack London, Zane Grey, Emily Brontë, to name just a few. I always had a novel in my hands. Then, in high school, I discovered Rosemary Rogers and was hooked on romance, particularly western romances. Regular trips to the bookstore netted me wonderful authors such as Lavyrle Spencer, Catherine Anderson, Jodi Thomas, and Dorothy Garlock. Just thinking about all those wonderful books has me giddy.

After I married, and before I discovered I had a multitude of western historical romances bubbling inside me just waiting to pop out, I became a professional equine photographer--a career that lasted twenty years. Growing up with horses, and in the West, I found it a natural progression. If any of you have ever been to a horse show, you'll understand when I say that the photographer has a pretty lonely job. Most hours are spent alone in the arena, snapping horses and equestrians as they are put through their paces. During that time, I fleshed out plots in my head, plus developed the charming yet sexy characters of the McCutcheon family and dyed-in-the-wool loner Chase Logan.

I'm an easy target for a sweet romance, filled with sexual tension, lively banter, and men and women who will surprise as well as inspire and touch your heart. Writing is a joy when each moment takes me to another place, another time. One filled with wonder, beauty, joy, romance and love!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love Historical Westerns.... December 19, 2013
By Dorothy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Can you imagine staying up until Midnight to finish a good book? Well, this story will make you want to finish it and not put it down. I'm sure Ms. Fyffe put hours and hours into making this book one that you want in your library whether on the shelf or on Kindle. Following the lives and loves of Mail-Order Brides is always interesting and this story does not let you stop reading. There are some laughs and light hearted moments when a man tangles with the livery stable owner; but I don't want to give that away. Heather finds life in the west so much different than St. Louis but also she finds friends and people who love her. I recommend you add this book to your "must read" category and enjoy every moment. Thank you Ms. Fyffe for the author you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming story of a mail-order bride done wrong! December 20, 2013
By cclblue
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved this charming story of a mail-order bride done wrong! Some of our favorite characters from Y Knot rally around Heather as she tries to make a new life in a new town. I loved checking back in on all these characters who have found a place in my heart from others books in The McCutcheon Family series. This book works well as a stand alone book too. You don't need to have read the other stories.

When Heather shows up as a mail-order bride in a small town in Montana, she learns that her husband-to-be has no idea she is coming. His mom has actually sent for her. They find themselves in an awkward situation as tragedy strikes his family. Together they try to sort it all out. Once things settle down Heather sets out on her own and is overwhelmed by how many others are seeking a bride. Is it too late for Hayden?

This story made me laugh out loud a number of times. I have to wonder if that many men were looking for a bride out west at that time. Still, the antics are fun. I love seeing the characters come to life!!!!

Arriving in town, she finds her supposed intended had not a clue about the reason for her being there. Embarrassing, but she holds her head high. You will have to read the story to find the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful page-turner! February 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Book four of the McCutcheon Family series by Caroline Fyffe is terrific fun and filled with the real-world characters we’ve come to expect from this gifted writer. Heather is “the mail-order bride done wrong.” Her intended, Hayden, won’t go along with his mother’s well-intentioned finagling to marry him off. As a result, Heather quickly becomes the most sought-after young woman in Y Knot, Montana, as all the eligible young bachelors step forward to vie for her hand. Will Hayden come to his senses in time? An absolutely wonderful read.
