More About the Author

Lauri Robinson loves once upon a time and happily ever after stories, both to read and to write. She lives in Minnesota, and loves spending time with her family. When not writing, she volunteers for several groups, and enjoys Elvis music and watching NASCAR. Her western historical romances have received glowing reviews, and she'd love to be able to time travel back to the Wild West, but only for a visit...she believes there is a lot to be said for indoor plumbing and internet service.

I LOVE this book and so far have read it twice. It's a lovely story I will read a few times more. In a previous review someone slammed the author about errors in grammar I believe it was and I say hockeypuck, overlook these small things and enjoy the story. I'm sick of reading about murder and mayhem, hate and war and I have switched genres and will only read "nice" stories, easier on the blood pressure. I love Lauri's writing and no I don't know her except through her writing. If you want to read a lovely story, read Lauri Robinson's book as well as her other "A Wife for big John", I've read that one five times and will read it again.

I absolutely love this book. It is one of the stories that you can pull out and read over and over again and it never gets old. I also enjoyed the fact that it is a turnaround of the classic mail-order bride stories so often found in historical romance novels.
One of my favorite parts was the small glimpse of the daddy-daughter relationship at the end of the book, it will melt your heart.

You really need an editor! Too many instances of "lesson" instead of "lessen", etc. Though I enjoyed the story, the misspelled words and poor grammar and punctuation were just too distracting. This could easily be remedied by an editor.

What an entertaining story! An endearing, engaging love story set in the old west (Dakota territory). Creative, well written and enjoyable. Can hardly wait for her next story!

Maybe, maybe not . Mail Order Husband is a story well played out in the reader's mind. Written well. Transports us readers back in time, drawing us in as their story unfolds. I love a book that draws the reader into the story from the first chapter.

Since her father's death, Penny's been plagued by troubles on the ranch and sinister characters have been lurking about, and though she doesn't like the idea much, she feels she has no choice but to send for a mail order husband, dreaming of a knight in shining armor coming to right all her problems, despite her professed pessimism regarding the scheme. Penny and Jace were such engaging characters, making great equal partners when it was called for, but also falling easily into the more traditional roles of meek woman and strong, protective man at other times, and it was fascinating to see the movement back and forth between the two. The mistaken assumptions on both sides throughout the story became frustrating and by the end it was heartbreaking to see the characters following through with noble actions that neither of them wanted. I'm glad it all worked out in the end, but I wish things could have been resolved a bit sooner. The humorous bits sprinkled throughout the story were great!
