5.0 out of 5 stars Pure fun
This is a book that was pure fun to read. It is about a woman who goes "back home" and all the memories that come back to her. It made me laugh, and cry and made me wish I had lived there. I really enjoyed reading it and wish she had written more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Main Street Was Two Blocks Long
A sweet, gentle memoir about Ms. Hokett's childhood, family and growing up in small-town America. This was a pleasant read and reminiscent of a bygone era that really were the good old days. In terms of high literature, it's not, but it doesn't strive to be. The type of tales that are shared here are the type you would expect to hear while sitting on the front porch...

5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle stories of a bygone era, March 11, 2003

Well-written in everyday language, Main Street, tells the stories of real lives and lessons learned. It is as though you've shaken hands with the past, with just an extra squeeze on the end of that handshake.

In terms of high literature, it's not, but it doesn't strive to be. The type of tales that are shared here are the type you would expect to hear while sitting on the front porch with family or friends. This book is especially appropriate for younger readers although it's perfectly fine for anyone whom wants to escape with a pleasant book. Recommended.
