This review is from: Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (DVD)
Hollywood and Bollywood can be two totally different things. India is big on musicals when the US is not. I read a book on Indian male moviegoers and they complained that Hollywood films are too short, not allowing one to lose one's self. This film is 2.5 hours long! And believe me, it is no "Titanic" by James Cameron.
The film was really, really long. Much of the acting was overdone. The musical cues were overstated. Although it says it's a Hindi film, it should more accurately be called "Hindlish." Every fifth word out of actors' mouths were English. Surely, Hindi and other Indian languages have their own words for "wonderful," "uncle," "of course," etc. The big draw here is Sohail Khan. His butt chin is even deeper than Deepak Chopra's. His face is beautiful. He has a formidable, mesomorphic body that could rival Jean Claude van Damme or Sonny Landham any day. Still, he's never shirtless like a Brad Pitt or Eddie Cibrian would have been. Plus, there was no English translation given to the Indian title. |
