5.0 out of 5 stars Emergency Water, October 4, 2008

This review is from: Mainstay Water Packets. Case of 60. 4.224 Ounces (125 ml) (Misc.)
You never know when you might need these purified and sterilized pouches of water in an emergency. I carry these in my car should I ever break down somewhere out of the way on the way to hiking. They are also great for taking along on a hike as they don't 'sweat' and make a mess.

I tried and tasted - I can't say anything bad about it - tastes like you're drinking water and when you're thirsty you'll be glad you had these with you. I did detect a very slight after taste - don't know if this will get more pronounced with age or not.

Each bag contains about a 1/2 cup of water. Since the water is sterile it can also be used to cleanse wounds in emergency situations. The pouches are tough and can take quite a bit of abuse without leaking.

There is a five year shelf life on the water from the date stamped on each packet, and I was very happy to see that my 60 pouches were all recently processed within a month of my purchase which will give me the full 5 year usage, and at 18lbs you can't beat the free shipping from Amazon.

I was ecstatic to find this product. I had been looking for so long for a larger case of water pouches that could be shipped to Canada for a reasonable price. This was a lower price than even some Canadian companies quoted me for similar products.

After watching the situations in Indonesia, Thailand, Katrina, Chile, Haiti and Japan following natural disasters...and heeding our local Government's urging to be prepared...our family is assembling a disaster kit. We have water capsules and other water sources stored but thought this would be a good idea also.

I have been through a previous water shortage and with the amount of water needed to clean ones self and cook, it is nice to be prepared.

These water packets are very well packed. The box survived a recent move with us and had no leaking. I am pleased with the 5 year potential of the packages. If we have not used them as the 5th year approaches we can start to use them for camping, hiking or when we are out and about.

Thank you Amazon for carrying Emergency Gear like this.
