Mainstream Mystic is an amazing first book, especially for someone who comes from what might be considered an "unconventional" background for a metaphysical book writer. I can't imagine a more perfect background, however, considering the message of Zarn's book, which is that we are all spiritual beings who are born to reconnect with our Source if we simply open ourselves to our innate divinity. We're ALL "chosen"...you don't have to be a choirboy or a nun to communicate with your deceased loved ones and to experience moments of spiritual enlightenment. It's our birthright. We just have to claim it.

Zarn weaves a lucid, compelling, and endearing tapestry---autobiographical in structure---that delivers a powerful and humbling message. The message? It's all here, all around us, waiting for us to wake up...more accurately, to remember, because we knew all this before we were born...but it gets socialized out of us: we live forever, incarnating over and over again; we plan our lives before incarnating---including difficult relationships and even tragedy---for the learning opportunities that can be reaped from them; we are spiritual beings first and foremost, we are all connected, and we need to find a "place of peace" with our fellow man from which we can begin to change our world for the better.

Mainstream Mystic is authentic, unselfconscious, candid, and unapologetic. Refreshingly perceptive. And absolutely inspiring. I couldn't put it down. It made me feel closer to God/Source, to nature, to my intuitions, to life, to others, and to MYSELF. It made me feel more confident about my CONNECTION to everything. It reawakened me to the divine synchronicities that happen to me every day, the things that we tend to brush aside in the swift pace of today's world. This is a book that---if everyone were to read and take to heart---just might begin to awaken the sleeper in all of us.

"Mainstream Mystic" by Patti Zarn, in my opinion, is a reflective, honest account of a truly magical journey. Patti's prose are simple & straightforward, making for a quick, enjoyable reading experience. While others may not relate to ALL of Patti's story, most will certainly acknowledge the so-called "coincidences" & "synchronicities", such as the song on the radio with the deep, personal message. Definitely worth the investment of time & money.

I'll be quite honest and tell you that when I first heard about this book and read the description/review here, I thought it wouldn't be for me. I was thinking it was going to be "preachy" and one of those books that sends a message about how "if you don't believe in god (as historically defined), you're doomed". I was SO relieved that it was nothing like that! It was enlightening and eye opening. Patti Zarn told HER story and HER connection to god/Jesus without making me feel like my beliefs are wrong. In my humble opinion, she did it right. This book is not about god, it's not about religion. It's about one woman's connection to the spirit world. And, I think the best part is that it allows the reader to decide what his/her own definition is of "spirituality".

I enjoyed this book, it was a mystical meander through one individual's spiritual awakening. It was an easy read, it never failed to hold my interest and told about this persons unfolding with an unflinching honesty that was truly refreshing to experience. No egos on a pedestal here, just a great first book!
