From an Industrial Practitioner of Process Measurement & Control,
This review is from: Maintenance of Instruments & Systems: Practical Guides For Measurement And Control (Practical Guides for Measurement and Control) (Hardcover)
This volume is part of the Practical Guides Series developed and published by ISA (formerly "The Instrument Society of America", later "The International Society for Measurement and Control" and now known as "The Instrument, Systems and Automation Society"). The Practical Guides were concived to bridge the gap between theory and actual practice, and the stress is placed on the actual experience of measurement and control practitioners. I own this book. Its a good reference on the topics related to the maintenance of instruments, equipment and devices that are part of Automation and Control Systems. An excellent maintenance handbook that provides comprehensive coverage of maintenance requirements for pneumatic and electrical/electronic devices as well as expanded coverage of DCS systems, analytical instrumentation, fiber optics, and smart instruments. Coverage is organized by devices to make finding the information quick and easy, making this an excellent reference for both the novice and the experienced technician. Maintenance management and engineering as well as the personnel issues such as skill sets, training, and certification/credentialing are covered in detail. This book clarifies the scope, responsibilities and contributions of maintenance personnel. In this edition, special emphasis is given to documentation requirements and safety issues along with updated coverage of newly issued regulations and standards. The book is organized as folows: - Introduction. - Fundamental principles. - Instrmentation and control system maintenance personnel. - Maintenance management. - Maintenance engineering. - Service / contract maintenance. - Configuration and programming. - Calibration. - uning details. - Maintenance and troubleshoting. - Safety. - Glosary of terms.
