Book Description

September 5, 1998
Does the arranged marriage of his rival, Shun, mean that ill-fated college student Godai will finally win the love of Kyoko Otonashi? Not if the handsome, loyal, (and occasionally sneaky) Shun can help it. The love triangle of Shun, Godai, and Kyoko becomes a love square in this episode of funny misunderstandings. Graphic novel format, illustrated throughout.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Like any good soap opera, but unlike a lot of multi-part Japanese comics, Maison Ikkoku doesn't have to be read starting with the first volume to be enjoyed. Most of this volume focuses on the main romantic triangle between Godai, his beautiful apartment manager Kyoko, and her aggressive suitor Coach Mitaka. When Mitaka's father tries to set him up with a prospective fianceé, Mitaka takes advantage of the situation and pressures Kyoko with a hasty proposal, although it comes across more like an ultimatum. Kyoko's parents give her some free travel vouchers, whereupon she decides to take a much-needed trip. Will Godai chase after her? And if he catches up with her, will he be able to finally express his true feelings for her? --Jim Pascoe

5.0 out of 5 stars the most powerful in the series to date!, September 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Maison Ikkoku, Vol. 10: Dogged Pursuit (Paperback)
I stumbled across Maison Ikkoku at my comic shop one day. I had some extra bucks and picked it up. That was only about 3 or 4 months ago and I'm glad I had that extra money! This is the BEST Maison Ikkoku manga to DATE! (except I haven't read Student Affairs, Hounds of War, or Game,set,match.. hehe) This is one of those page turners! Rumiko Takahashi at her best! You MUST read MI if you're a true manga fan or a true takahashi fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars bark, bark, bark, November 18, 2001

This review is from: Maison Ikkoku, Vol. 10: Dogged Pursuit (Paperback)
a couple of books ago two new characters were introduced: Nozomu Nikaido and Ibuki Yagami. Well, imn this book we are introduced to another character: Asuna Kujo. Asuna Kujo is a pretty, rich, and shy girl who has been arranged a maariage with none other than Shun Mitaka. The problem is that she loves dogs, she owns six of them, and Mitaka hates dogs. Funny stuff. However, this book, although very funnt, is quite sad also. Godai and Kyoko have another falling out, and Kyoko feels like she has lost Godai's affection. This of course is due to yet another misunderstanding. This book really pulls on the heart strings. Another thing, Ikuko makes a cameo in this book, and what acutie she has become. Also this book is 280 pages not what amazon says

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Manga storytelling ever??, October 4, 2000

This review is from: Maison Ikkoku, Vol. 10: Dogged Pursuit (Paperback)
I heard from the grapvine that Maison Ikkoku was one of the greatest love stories ever written! I wasn't really into that kind of manga until I bought MI Dogged Pursuit paperback just for the heck of it. The whole story revolves around a college boy (Godai) trying to find a real job, and at the same time win the affections of his beautiful manager Kyoko. The most fascinating part of MI though is the minor characters that come betweem Godai and Kyoko, which results to probably the funniest and heartwarming story I have ever read! Manga or any other literature! Takahashi scores huge on this series!!
