5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a 1 to 3 year old, you need Maisy
These tapes captivate and hold my daughter's interest completely. She is especially fond of Charlie, I think because he always seems to get in the most trouble ; - ). My daughter loves the first episode on this tape about spots - Maisy visits animals that have spots, and stripes. Another great one is where Maisy and Eddie paint the shed different colors for the roof,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Colors but not shapes! Disappointing.
We're Maisy crazy at our house, led by our 16 month old. I recently got two videos for him. I was very pleased with Counting with Maisy. It delivers just what one would expect. Colors and shapes does not, however. They do a nice job of working in colors, but no shapes! Spots and stripes are mentioned, but I don't consider them shapes. Disappointed. I will continue to buy...

My daughter loves the first episode on this tape about spots - Maisy visits animals that have spots, and stripes. Another great one is where Maisy and Eddie paint the shed different colors for the roof, walls, door, etc. I whole-heartedly recommend these tapes, as they are so much more interesting to toddlers who are in the stage of early to middle speech development - much more simplistic than Barney, but slightly more advanced than Tubbies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment for toddlers, June 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My son (2.5) really enjoys these videos. They are bright and colorful, have interesting segments with a nice musical soundtrack, and best of all are understandable to a two year old. When my son watches other tapes, even quality shows like Barney or Arthur, I can tell that some concepts are over his head (things like learning responsiblity, dealing with divorce, etc.). This sometimes leaves him confused rather than entertained and relaxed. This problem does not happen with Maisy. These tapes are challenging enough to hold his interest time and time again, but simple enough for him to understand so that he really has fun with them and feels good about being able to follow the story. I highly recommend the entire series!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Mamie" is great!, September 20, 2000

Our daughter Camille was just 18 months old when she became interested the video's cover. We were staying at a friend's house this summer, and his three-year-old had a copy. Camille immediately loved it. Since July, we have become the owners of four Maisy videos, a Maisy doll, and six Maisy books. "Mamie" is the name Camille, who can't quite say 'Maisy' yet, has given to her. She's learned several words, colors and objects, and loves to sing along to the upbeat songs! Although the omniscient white, male narrator who speaks for the characters (who speak in oddly muffled, childlike tones)bugs me a bit, Camille couldn't care less. A great pick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maisy is the best!, August 23, 2000
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have to limit the number of times I let my almost two year old watch this video, because he usually wants to watch it over and over again. The Maisy videos are the only ones that I have found that are perfect for toddlers. My son can understand it and he has learned some of his colors from it. I highly reccommend this video for people who are concerned about what their very young children watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Animation And Upbeat Music, September 17, 2001
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Vivid, beautiful colors, great animation and upbeat music. Demonstrates sharing and friendship. Interacts with children. Encourages critical thinking and language development and teaches directions. Best viewed in segments. Kids loved this. "Can we see it again...now?" "I laughed a lot. I love Maisy." The "Wheels on the Bus" song was a hit. Children danced and sang along. "Maisy is funny." "It made me think about sharing." "The animals were nice to each other." Best for ages 2 to 5.

4.0 out of 5 stars Colors but no shapes, December 6, 2002

My 2 year old loves Maisy. We used to borrow the tapes from the library but she never wanted to give them back. I finally bought Maisy's Colors and Shapes because she is still working on learning these concepts and I thought it would be educational. Although she loves the tape, it teaches colors but does not do shapes (circle, square, triangle, etc.) I do not consider "spots" and "stripes" to be shapes so there is really no shape learning at all. I was a little disappointed by that but she still enjoys it. I'll just have to find her another way to practice her shapes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Video, June 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My 2 year old loves, loves, LOVES this video. That being said, the video is misnamed. There is one short story about colors and nothing about shapes. What you will find are several short stories and a few cute Maisy music videos. This is a very fun video, but only somewhat educational. Consider it like a collection of clips you would see on the Maisy TV show.

4.0 out of 5 stars We love Maisy!, June 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My daughter was only a little over 4 months old when we watched Maisy for the first time. Obviously that's young and she doesn't really "get" the actual concepts yet, but she loves looking at it and the catchy tunes hold her attention. I like the messages it contains and how clearly the narration works colors and shapes into fun little story lines. Thumbs up from Mommy and baby for Maisy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Maisy Crazy, November 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This was our first Maisy. I purchased it early on, and my child did not show interest until about 18 mos. Now, we're Maisy crazy. This is one of the few video series I don't mind watching. Maisy does a lot of the things we do, and the books and other licensed products are nice, too.
