5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Soundtrack
This CD is a great compilation of jazz and classics from the era in which the movie was set. There are several piano solos on this CD but Track 5 is some of the most awesome piano that I have ever heard. I believe this is the solo from the scene where the Jim Carrey character discovers he can jam and it has resparked my own interest in playing jazz piano. Thank you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Enyojable Soundtrack
I bought the CD because I found it on a discount price and I guessed (rightly) that Nat King Cole sings with Stan Kenton orchestra on "Orange Colored Sky"...
Most of the album is taken by OK swing music by contemporary orchestra but there's also some dull Mark Isham orchestration, a bad Nat King Cole number with strings and, strangley enough, a Chet Baker track...

Additional songs include Spencer's clarinet solos and a couple of Nat King Cole classics that really round off the selection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Majestic Soundtrack, January 6, 2002
This review is from: The Majestic (Audio CD)
The music and the movie is definately something you will fall in love with. The music of yester-year takes you back to time when life was slower paced, and not so complicated. They couldn't have put two pieces of material together so beautifully, as the movie and this soundtrack. For those of you with music in your soul this is definately one you would want in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!, December 31, 2001

This CD is awesome! It's got great jazz, along with rock-n-roll piano tracks. The movie is just as great. If you like the big band jazz, there are some great tracks- lots of lead clarinet! The Spencer Wyatt Band is great! And if you haven't yet, go see the movie, it's great to bring back memories. Hope you enjoy! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars An answer for a question from Texas, February 14, 2003

Music fan from Texas, Yes both songs are there and as strange as it may sound, those where the two songs that cought my attention when I saw the movie. The one with the clarinet is called "Stranger on the shore" while the one with the piano is called "Boogie Woogie Stomp" I believe. The soundtrack as a whole is flawless and I strongly reccomend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent music from an excellent movie, February 13, 2003

"The Majestic" didn't exactly make a huge splash in the movie world, but it's definitely one of my favorites. One of the elements that made it so enjoyable was the great music throughout the entire film. That same music stands very well on its own in this album.

While The Majestic's music will not appeal to everyone, there's no denying that it has a certain charm. There's just something about songs like "Begin the Beguine" and "I Remember You" that sends the heart and soul back to a simpler time. To me, that's an enjoyable musical experience well worthy of 5 stars. If you like music with soul and emotional impact, definitely give this CD a whirl.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent olio of music styles, February 22, 2007
This review is from: The Majestic (Audio CD)
Do you like ethereal New Age? Gotcha covered. Does Boogie piano get your toes a-tappin'? Check. Is Swing more your thing? It's here. All fine reasons to add this sound track to your music collection. As for the movie, I like to think it Carrey's best work. The man has the most expressive face in Moviedom. Regarding the story, it's set in the early Fifties during the rabid Communist scaremongering headed by Senator Joseph McCarthy. One result was the blacklisting of suspected Communists and sympathizers in liberal Hollywood, of which our protagonist Peter Appleton became a victim.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boogie Majestic, August 7, 2003
This review is from: The Majestic (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is the best soundtrack I have heard in a long time. Bringing the swing big band music was fantastic.I wish they would have included Pennsylvania 6-5000 in the soundtrack though. This by far is the best movie soundtrack next to Swing Kids. So buy this soundtrack. This is real music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Majestic "Majestic" soundtrack, July 25, 2011
This review is from: The Majestic (Audio CD)
Lots of good 40's and 50's style music to be heard on this disc, but that's not why you should get it. Get it so you can hear Jim Cox's BEASTLY piano chops. He opens up the whole album with the fictional "Spencer Wyatt Big Band" (the name of the band in the movie) and proceeds to give a clinic on three more songs, solo-piano style. Jim Cox is pretty much a studio regular in LA, but you'll never really hear him like this anywhere else. I've looked. Get this album. :)

I normally don't care for Jim Carrey's acting but heard this was good. Boy were
they right. He played a serious role and since I went to school in the 50's, this
was really enjoyable to me. I ordered the CD because I liked the music in the movie so much. Movie and CD are great in my opinion.

The movie has a lot of great old songs that I remember my parents enjoying. But the CD doesn't capture them. And I don't like the ones that are on it. I bought is specifically for Nat King Cole's "I Remember You." Buy the movie DVD instead and enjoy the songs on it.
