5.0 out of 5 stars What a Fun Little Game
I had average expectations for this game of heroic adventure, and these were far exceeded by the game I discovered here. In Majesty you build a town, building by building, as funds become available, and you train heroes to defend it from the monsters which live in the wilderness outside the town. You can't play the heroes, you just give them incentives to fight...

I had average expectations for this game of heroic adventure, and these were far exceeded by the game I discovered here. In Majesty you build a town, building by building, as funds become available, and you train heroes to defend it from the monsters which live in the wilderness outside the town. You can't play the heroes, you just give them incentives to fight monsters, and fight they will. Some heroes are explorers and go out into the wilderness on their own to hunt monsters, others stick close to town and defend it from attackers. Some rush to monster dens where you have offered a bounty for the den's destruction, while others seem disinterested in such financial incentives. Not being able to directly play the heroes was disapointing at first, but once you get used to the heroes acing on their own you have a great time rooting for them to find the monsters, destroy the dens and gain levels. You build up your town to offer various armor, weapons and magic items to these adventurers, who purchase them with the money they take from vanquished monsters.

There is no overall campaign arc to this game. There are different scenarios that are graded by skill: beginner, intermediate, advanced. I have played all these scenarios, and they are challenging and fun. There is a high replay value for these scenarios, because the level maps change slightly each time you play. The overall goals remain the same, but you never know exactly where to explore or where the head monsters will be hiding, which means you get to rediscover them each time you play. Lots of value!
