Book Description

Majesty Series March 31, 1998
Pelican has brought the country's architectural gems into homes for years through the critically acclaimed Majesty Architecture series of books. Now, for the first time, The Majesty of Natchez Postcard Book captures the same striking images found in the book and makes them available to send to family and friends. The grandeur of majestic Stanton Hall, the heartache of unfinished Longwood, and the historic front parlor of the Briars, where Jefferson Davis and Varina Howell were married in 1845, are but three of the exquisite interior and exterior scenes to be enjoyed in this postcard book. However, photographer Steven Brooke has done much more than reproduce the physical likenesses of Natchez's finest architectural gems. He has managed to convey through his pictures the ethereal essence of the quintessential antebellum town. For those who lucky enough to have visited Natchez, these postcards will immediately evoke feelings of nostalgia. For those who have yet to visit the genteel Mississippi town, they will take them reconsider the destination of their next vacation. Steven Brooke, an internationally acclaimed architectural photographer, is the coauthor of The Gardens of Florida and author and photographer of The Majesty of Natchez and Seaside .
