MUCH BETTER !!!!,

Now this is more like it. MLB 2k10 is what I've been waiting for from 2k Sports. I know most PS3 owners prefer MLB The Show but I've always preferred the 2k series. I thought 2k9 was OK. I didn't think it was as bad as so many people claimed. Now I'm a casual sports gamer. This means I don't care about franchise modes, manager modes or creating a rookie player and working my way to the big leagues. I just like to pick teams and play.
Lets start with the improvements. The graphics are very nice, much better than 2k9. Stadiums and crowds look great. The biggest improvement I notice is the frame rate. Gameplay is finally smooth and very fluid. Commentary is fine. The controls are tight and responsive. I use the classic pitching controls and total control batting so I can't comment on the ease or lack thereof of the total control pitching. My only disappointment so far is the sound effects. Gamespots review states that audio has been improved but to me it's taken a step back. The crack of the bats, pop of the mits, and impacts off turf and other surfaces has been replaced by simple plinks, plunks and blips (one of the things I didn't like about The Show series). The crowd doesn't seem to taunt you as much as previous entries which is something I rather enjoy. Maybe in more rivalry based match ups the crowd kicks it up a notch. I am VERY VERY happy so far about this year's 2K entry. I definitely recommend it.

Graphics are really nice & pitching is easily controlled. Hitting & stealing bases on the other hand are dang near impossible, having to use the analog for power swings is very frustrating as I struck out alot B4 finaly getting it halfway down. Also i dunno about anyone else, but my game freezes alot as well. Oh yeah, the soundtrack kinda sucks too, they oughta do like Xbox & let U load ur own music...

Excellent Authentic Baseball Game,

After seeing many negative reviews on this game, I just had to add my 2 cents. I've played different baseball games over the years, with no real "loyalty" to any one game. I have enjoyed the previous versions of 2ks baseball games, but there was definitely room for improvement. This latest version has put everything together. Graphics are pretty good (good looking stadiums, fans, etc.) The gameplay is very fluid. The batting is very good. The batter's stances are spot on. The pitching is good, but using the total control to pitch can be frustrating (using the classic control solves this small issue). The fielding is perfect. Making routine plays can actually be pretty fun just because of how smooth the gameplay is. I think one of the best things is just how they have many different random wild pitches, foul balls, etc there is. It really helps to give a more realistic feel to the game. As far as "The Show", I did enjoy it, but really do like the gameplay and fluidity of MLB 2K10 better.

If you are into the mode of creating your own player and moving him up to the minors, stop now and go buy MLB the Show. This game tries to copy that, but is kinda buggy and not a whole lot of fun. However, if you're looking for a change, and want to play your favorite team during the upcoming season, this is a fun game. The pitching interface is awesome. Rather than 'click-click-click' you actually have to move the joysticks to complete a pitch. Batting is decent. Fielding is kinda buggy. Basestealing is horrible. The announcers are alright, but very repetitive. Overall, a decent game that could be made better.

First you have to understand that this is a graphic-based game and you are not manipulating "real" people. There are a lot of quirks - such as bad turns when running bases (particularly when rounding first and third.) Also, I have had my pitcher disappear - leaving just a floating baseball - when making a pitching change.
Like other reviewers, I find that fielding and pitching are excellent while hitting is extremely difficult. I also do not like the booklet that comes with the game - apparently a game that is this heavy in graphics needs no information. There are a ton of menus - that most baseball fans will understand but also there are some that need some explanation. One feature that is missing from the booklet is a way to perform pitch-outs and intentional walks (if anyone knows how to perform these tasks I would appreciate a posting.) The soundtrack - mentioned by other reviewers - is HORRIBLE. Thankfully you can turn the music off. The announcers are great and the fan reaction to foul balls in the stands are right on. However, way too many clones performing the same functions - 200 women with light brown hair in yellow shirts moving the same way at the same time. Another thing that is missing is taunting from the dugouts. I knnow that we live in an unfortunate PC country but come on. Are some things not sacred? I curse like a banshee at the TV when I strike out. I guess it will have to do. I hope that 2K11 will fix some of the bugs but overall I am not at all disappointed by this game.

I really love this game. I have been playing non-stop since I got it. I have it for PS2. So when I upgraded to PS3, I had to have it. I would say more but, I'm going to go play my game now.

This is more of an "arcade" video game instead of one that is "lifelike". Still learning how to hit, but pitching is pretty cool. Fielding takes some time to learn. Commentary is okay. Wish the stadiums were more life like.
For example, when the Braves get on base, in real life, they start the tomahawk chop, but on this game, they play music. Overall, 4 stars.

This game is perfect. I bought the PS3 in order to play this game. I am not at all disappointed in this purchase. I would have to say that I am sort of an addict. I must play at least one game a day and when I lose I want to play it again. This game is designed better than any other baseball game that I have ever played and I have been a loyal baseball gamer since the NES of the 80's. I suggest that you only play this on the hard level as the lower two levels are way too easy and make the game boring. It is a tuff challenge but if you pitch the way a real pro would pitch, the hitters in this game will react and hit the way a professional ball player will. Many great downloads that are shared amongst all of us and also downloadable past all star players.

In general, I would say this game is fun. The graphics are good and I like the announcers they have for this game.
One thing that I do not like about this game is that is freezes a lot. I have tried to contact 2K Sports about this problem, but I have not really gotten any resolutions. Another thing I really don't like about this game is that is can be difficult to see a base. In order to steal a base, the L1 or L2 button has to be held down depending if the user wants one player to steal a base or if the user wants multiple players to steal a base. The problem I have with this is that, if the user holds the button down before the pitcher throws the ball to home plate, the base runner usually gets picked off. If the user holds down the button after the pitcher throws the ball towards home plate, the player gets to the next base way to late. Also, there have been times where I have held down the L1 or L2 button and the runner did not even attempt to steal. I wish there would have been a simpler way to steal a base.

A HUGE Difference From 2K9,

The folks at 2K were right, this game is definitely much different from all the previous versions. They brought back the classic style pitching and they made it tough for you to hit home runs and get strikeouts unless you know what you're doing. I definitely recommend this game, it's worth the $60 this year!
