5.0 out of 5 stars MLB 2K9 Delivers a Home Run!
Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews of this one. It's a big improvement over the last editions. Simply download the updates and you're in business. I like MLB The Show, but find the graphics here, including the stadiums, just a tad more realistic. The announcing is great and the game can be fine tuned to deliver as much of a challenge as you want. I have both...

3.0 out of 5 stars Much Better
I've been playing just under a week and the improvements are easily noticeable. First off the frame rate is vastly improved. Last year I played 2K8 for all of 20 mins and could take no more. The graphics are also better than last year but I thought the graphics in 2K7 were just as impressive.

I'm still getting used to the gameplay mechanics but I welcome the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Much Better, March 15, 2009

I've been playing just under a week and the improvements are easily noticeable. First off the frame rate is vastly improved. Last year I played 2K8 for all of 20 mins and could take no more. The graphics are also better than last year but I thought the graphics in 2K7 were just as impressive.

I'm still getting used to the gameplay mechanics but I welcome the challenge. I will say that I despise the total control pitching and pine for the crosshairs of 2K7 but alas I know those are history. I still use the classic pitching option which has it's own frustrations such as the constant barrage of bean balls I seem to throw despite seemingly getting the meter just right. It also makes painting the corners next to impossible. Sometimes it seems like it's throw down the middle or beanballs are you're only options, it might just be my inexperience though I'm sure more practice will make perfect. Right now I'm constantly being clobbered by the computer. I hit at-'em balls and pop ups while the CPU hits gappers and homers all day.

I haven't played online yet so I can't comment on that. I'm a casual player so I also don't care for manager modes. I just like to pick teams and play ball. Overall I'm content with this years effort from 2K Sports. There's still work to be done but there on the right track.

This is a very fun game, but the AI and fly ball catching is frustrating sometimes.... I had a perfect game going, then in the 8th, a lazy fly ball is dropped by Ichiro, I positioned him perfectly and the ball bounced off of his HEAD! stupid things like this make me rate the game a little lower, but still a good gaming experience.

I've played baseball games before, mostly from A&E Sports, but this game is different in the sense that is more realistic and difficult to win games. If you're not tuned enough to play this game, you will lose every game. So you have to be realy quick with the keys. It's a good game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Pete, April 7, 2009
This review is from: Major League Baseball 2K9 (Video Game)
I think this game is more realistic than MLB the Show because of the unique toggle game controller play. And more importantly a lot of fun. This game is heading in the right direction, I am glad I purchased it, and in just a few years will be ahead of the Show for good.

The 1.02 update fixed all the glitches of MLB 2K9.

Yes the series of video clips of MLB the Show 09 have better graphics. But the online play lags, hitting is outdated, and have you ever noticed foul balls seem to always land in certain spots?

I think this game is a good bargin and deserves better reviews.

MLB 2K10 is a great game. The graphics are good, the only thing I don't like is that the classic mode of pitching is really hard to figure out. The options for quick play are great and the franchise mode is fun!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not What I wished For, February 5, 2010

This review is from: Major League Baseball 2K9 (Video Game)
I haven't been much of a PS or Xbox player. But, couldn't pass up the PS3 deal for 300 bucks. But i needed some games so I picked up Call of Duty: World at War 2, and Baseball 2K9. Not a great player with WW2 but enjoy it nice interface and graphics. But, when i put in the Baseball 2K9 it was all over the place. The bugs kill it. It will stick in demo mode, or if you do get to play the next inning its stuck again. The graphics are not bad, I expected better with a HD system. But the thing that aggravated me the most was I would go through picking teams and a park to find that I was in a totally different park, or the announcers were announcing a different game. Even though this game was well under the 60 buck sticker shock this game's software needs to be worked on. I have also heard from others that there are just a ton of bug issues so it isn't just me.

Recommendation: Buy at your own risk..

I always been a 2K baseball series guy in the past, but this version ABSOLUTELY sucks!!! Pitching is WAY difficult. Its near impossible to get more then 1 strike out per game with your pitcher (no matter how hard you try). Hitting homeruns is not the same either. Most of the time you just hit deep pop-flies that the computer always seems to catch. The graphics are GREAT but the game play SUCKS. I should have done a lil research before I bought this game. MLB The Show 09 looks MUCH better!! I would much more recommend that game over this one. Don't waist your money.
