Format: Paperback
It is a great short course from 1959 on major world religions, with glossaries of terms related to each separate religion, which is very helpful. Very well written for the "average reader", easy to understand and with personal experiences from world travels and interviews with religions leaders, makes it interesting. It is written from a Christian point of view and the chapter on Christianity coagulates all the various Christian faiths under the sign of the risen Christ, and gives a personal challenge to study religions and practice your beliefs.

Marcus Bach (1906-1995) was a minister, then later a full-time writer and lecturer, becoming recognized as a leading authority on the world's religions and inter-cultural relations. He wtote many other books such as The World of Serendipity, The Chiropractic Story, The Unity Way of Life: What it Means to Live and Worship In Unity, Had You Been Born in Another Faith: The Story of Religion As It Is Lived and Loved by Those Who Follow the Path of Their Parental Faith, Strange Sects and Curious Cults, etc.

The religions surveyed are Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Judaism, Confusianism and Taoism, Shinto, Islam, and Christianity. There are also opening and closing chapters by Bach.

He wrote in the Foreword of this 1959 book, "In this compact and intimate world, religion or the lack of it is continually at the heart of man's thought. The story of mankind, as this popularly-written book will show, is the record of man's belief. Certainly in the realm of religion which is life's most vital field of study, it is essential to know exactly where we stand in our relationship to God, to others, and to ourselves."

Here are some quotations from the book:

"The 'New Testament' of Hinduism is the Upanishads...
