Useful children's introduction to Makah,

This book provides an introduction to the Makah tribe of Washington State for advanced elementary school children. Each chapter is a couple of pages long, and addresses the topics you'd expect: history, culture, family, whaling, and so forth.
It doesn't put the tribe in any broader context, so: if you want something on the Makah, this is it. If you want something that relates the Makah to other tribes or peoples, this isn't your book. I will hazard the guess that only schools in Washington will find it useful. The book includes photographs appropriate to the topic. |
