This review is from: Make Better Landings (Hardcover)
This relic of the 1970s and early 1980s, when every professional guy was learning to fly or owned an airplane, is an incredibly useful resource for flight instructors, students, and anyone who wants to polish his or her patterns and landings. The book encourages systematic thinking about different types of landings and pattern work. The author is British, which means that some of the procedures and terms don't directly translate to American flying, but his command of language is superb and the book is a shockingly easy read considering that you wouldn't expect to want to read this much about what seems like a simple task.

The book contains an intro to jet operations.

5.0 out of 5 stars The authoritative work on landing aircraft, July 21, 2000
This review is from: Make Better Landings (Hardcover)
It was by pure happenstance that I managed to get a copy of this excellent work (and in hardcover, no less) by a very respected British aviation author. I have read and studied many books on executing better landings especially since I discovered mine were *this* close to being what can only be termed "slow crashes" None of the other books come within a stone's throw of the high standard this marvellous book sets. In very clear and very precise language, Bramson's teachings are immediately comprehensible and the reader feels like they can go right out and do a much better job of landing after reading only the first few chapters. As an added bonus, this book even covers landing the big boys: jets and why they have to be landed in a different manner from the general aviation aircraft most pilots will fly. A most excellent treatise and if you can get it, I highly recommend it.
