Worth the Price Even if you are Just a Buyer, May 19, 2005
This review is from: Make Big Profits on Ebay: Start Your Own Million $ Business (Paperback)
I've purchased things on e-bay but never sold anything there. So I started reading this book with a view to selling some camera and computer items that I had collecting dust. First I decided to read about buying things to see if I agreed.
Not only did I agree, but they pointed out some things that I had never thought about, like searching for things with mis-spelled words in the title that would not show up in a search. Sure enough under "moboard" rather than "motherboard" I found a dual processor motherboard with no bids that would have gone for thirty - forty bucks if they had spelled out motherboard. There were also lots of boards with the search using the misspelled "motherbord."
Sounds like these ladies know what they are talking about. I started listing some items for sale, and while the bids haven't closed yet, so far at least what they said has proved dead on accurate.
As for making e-bay into a business, their comments on how to find a continuing source of supply for what you can sell profitably makes good sense, but I'm not there yet.
Finally the last part of the book is on the gerneral rules of starting any business such as licensing, accounting, taxes, etc. These are a lot like the same rules for starting any business but are tailored slightly with e-bay in mind.
All in all, easily worth the money.

A must-read for eBay sellers, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Make Big Profits on Ebay: Start Your Own Million $ Business (Paperback)
This book is a complete and comprehensive guide to selling (and even shopping) on eBay. For eBay newbies who want to sell on eBay, it is a step-by-step must-read, and even experienced sellers can learn something from this book. Although this is primarily written for sellers, buyers aren't left out either, as there are many great tips for avoiding pitfalls and unscrupulous sellers.
The book is easy to read and written in a casual, friendly style that keeps your attention. Even the technical issues are explained in simple, everyday language. These ladies know their stuff. It's obvious that the eBay sellers quoted in these pages are enjoying their successes and if you're even halfway serious about selling on eBay, this book is well worth your investment.

Great for all buyers and sellers, September 6, 2005
This review is from: Make Big Profits on Ebay: Start Your Own Million $ Business (Paperback)
I have been collecting movie memorabilia for more than 20 years and am considering selling off some of my collection. Although I participated in hundreds of auctions on eBay as a buyer, I had no idea how to become a seller. "Make Big Profits on eBay" provides a carefully constructed guide of how to start and maintain a small, medium or large business on eBay, from the occasional seller to the high-volume entrepreneur.
The book details how to register as a seller with eBay, how to acquire merchandise, how to name your company, how to handle payments, how to arrange shipping, how to list, photograph, and store items, how to work within the confines of the law and the rules of eBay, plus everything else you need to know when starting out as a seller. (It even gives tips on how to be a more efficent online buyer.)
Probably the best part about this book is how logically it's organized -- as if the authors anticipated every possible question. As I was reading it, a question would occur to me and within the next paragraph or two that particular question would be answered. For example, in the section about shipping, insurance, and delivery confirmation, I started wondering what to do when an item arrives damaged, or when the item doesn't arrive at all, or when an item arrives but the buyer claims it doesn't. These and other questions were answered almost as soon as the questions came to mind.
New and established sellers, in addition to new and established buyers, can all learn something from this book. Highly recommended.
