5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely give this CD a try
I picked up a CD after seeing these guys perform live (great live show by the way) and can definitely say that this is a band on the rise. As mentioned in the product description, this album covers a range of different influences, but June somehow pulls it all together to create a unique sound. Each song has its own feel, and I agree that the album as a whole lacks a...

There are very high points on this cd, but the equal lows really leaves a bad impression on this cd.

My main complaint are the moments when they truly made their sound 'blur.' By 'blur' I mean that the sound makes your brain go blank because of the boredom or predictability. The first track is not even listenable, ad the most devasting moments are the...

There are very high points on this cd, but the equal lows really leaves a bad impression on this cd.

My main complaint are the moments when they truly made their sound 'blur.' By 'blur' I mean that the sound makes your brain go blank because of the boredom or predictability. The first track is not even listenable, ad the most devasting moments are the Backstreet Boys-esque 'girl, where'd you go' moments. "Machine and the Line" has some really cool moments, but when the synth comes in, they stop sounding like a rock band and more like a computer generated band. I love high production value in an album, that is not my problem, but this doesn't even sound professionally produced. Synth used correctly is really great in this style of pop rock, Reggie and the Full Effect or The Postal Service have shown it has a place. "Your Shadow" will make you think of junior high love songs, and I don't think it is possible to think of that as a compliment.

"Swallowed" "Tempter" "Closer" & "A Taste" are really poppy, good Jimmy Eat World like rock songs. How good these songs are makes me even more bitter about the other half of the cd being so off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suprising, March 2, 2008

I first heard June at a Victory Records tour with Bayside, A Day to Remember, and others, they were impressive live. I bought the CD at the venue and it has been through my CD player more than a few times. I'm not sure who to compare them to although i'm sure a lot of people will compare them to Fall Out Boy, being that they have two lead singers and are from Chicago. It is a very good rock album, upbeat and fun to listen to. "I'd Lose Myself" is my favorite song. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Victory Records or punk-pop in general.

As mentioned in the product description, this album covers a range of different influences, but June somehow pulls it all together to create a unique sound. Each song has its own feel, and I agree that the album as a whole lacks a cohesive meaning, but there are some big hits on this CD that make this album worth buying. I am a 22 year old with a huge music collection and Make it Blur is still one of my most listened to albums. My favorite song is Closer (how can anyone not like this song?),

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better, September 24, 2007
This review is from: Make It Blur (Audio CD)
I was excited for this cd but I had no clue how the heck it was going to be as good as Can You Speak Any Faster. That cd was amazing. After one listen to Make It Blur I was disappointed. I gave it a second listen right away and now I can't seem to get it out of my car cd player for more than a day. It has some of the same sound but it is also very different in aspects. I love this cd and can't wait to see them live in St. Louis in a couple weeks!

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure on this one...but I love June., October 31, 2007
This review is from: Make It Blur (Audio CD)
So okay, I've been a fan of June for a long while now, and I absolutely love "Can you speak any faster" so of course I was looking forward to the 2nd full length album coming out. I got the cd, and I must say I was a little bit disappointed. It has a differnt sound quality compared to the first album (no I'm not talking about the general sound of the songs, of course they will sound different-I'm talking about how professional it sounds... recording quality) There aren't really any songs on there either that I can say are that great either. If you like June though give it a try, everyone has different tastes, but I was a little disappointed to say the least.
