About the Author

Harlan Lane, Ph.D., is George J. Matthews and Kathleen Waters Matthews University Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University and Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the acclaimed author or editor of fifteen books, including The Wild Boy of Aveyron and several others in the history of ideas. A MacArthur Fellow who has received many American and European academic and professional awards and honors, he lives in Boston. Christian Wayser is a parliamentary attaché at the European Parliament. He has been a French antiques expert and collaborator with France's preeminent TV personality and guru of fine eating and living. He commutes between Paris, Brussels and Strasbourg.
