I have truly benefitted from Nicol's straight forward and time tested strategys for starting up and maintaing a professional practice. I personally gained a great deal of insight into the mechanics of how to improve my own communication with my clients from the tips offered in the "dealing with clients" section. It's hard to believe Joe Nicols manages to shed light on everything from bookeeping and orginazational tips to healthy energy dynamics between reader and client in the work enviroment in 109 pages! Great Job!

This slender volume is a gold-mine of information. It's all good, all meat -- no filler. I wish that there had been even more space given to discussing ethics, but, again, all meat -- no filler. Recommended!

A Must-Have For Professional Readers,
By
This review is from: How To Make A Good Living As A Professional Psychic (Paperback)
While most of the advice in this book is not particularly innovative, Joe is "telling it like it is" from his real experiences, and the context is quit useful. As another reviewer noted, it's all meat here, and very solid, practical, dependable advice. Joe has a friendly, open writing style, and an organized mind. This book is worth every penny. I've had my copy for a couple of years now and I still find myself referring to it every now and then, and undoubtedly will in the future, too. A "must-have" if you're considering doing readings professionally.

As a professional Psychic. I really liked the book. I was already doing quite a lot of the things that he recommended. It's always good to find more resources to see how other people are running their businesses.
Because this kind of a businesss is unique it can be hard to find good resources from the business prospective. I've run my business for over 12 years now and its always good to see different ways of doing things.

The book describe one mans personal history of how he became a 6 figure psychic and what he learned along the way. Listing as much useful info as possible from start up to a psychic fair checklist.
It is a decent business guide with some kind advice on how to manifest money. I recommend this book if you have even the slightest inclination to do psychic reading professionally. Dantalion Jones author of "The Handbook of Psychic Cold Reading" and lots and lots of other books too.

I got the book with the intention of learning a little more than what I already knew just from common sense, business sense and feeling like a natural at giving readings. I learned A LOT. This is the BEST book I've read of the subject. If you're thinking about a book on this subject, I'd say just buy this one, read it from cover to cover and be satisfied that you haven't missed out by not reading anything else that covers the material this one covers.

practice what you preach,

I've had readings from this man. He is accurate. However, he is fast and pressurized in order to make his big money salary. He zips right through a reading. That would be tolerable except that he can also be abrasive. The big problem with Joe Nichols is that he is abrupt, abrasive and sometimes really offensive when he makes his readings or prognostications with his clients. I don't even think he realizes it. If for money or time's sake your time is short just hit 1 or 2 salient points and take the remainder of the time for the client to understand the importance or urgency of your advice in a less abrasive and more appealing manner rather than reading very rudely and very quickly, dashing off to the next reading because the time is up. Other less financially successful readers do this but he does not. They will get repeat business if they are at least semiaccurate but clients that are offended won't be back even if you are 100% on the mark. If you don't feel that you can provide the answers the client needs in a short reading time then go to a longer read at an increased rate. They may not want to pay more but the client will for a reasonably accurate reading and an unoffensive presentation that delivers the points you feel the client needs to hear in a manner that allows them to assimilate rather than outright reject it. Of course the final choice always lies with the client and he does stress this.
Tell me what good does a reading do to a client who is traumatized or offended so much by your delivery that they forget the reading and are unwilling to listen to the tape they have payed for? Are you really doing a service for your client then? Is that good karma? Is it really helpful for your business? Joe sometimes reads fast and abrasively. It hurts his business and his clients. Other than that follow everything in the book.

The perfect book for the psychic's assistant,
This review is from: How To Make A Good Living As A Professional Psychic (Paperback)
This is the perfect book for the psychic's assistant. Central Texas celebrity psychic Joe Nicols reminds readers that their Walkmans won't work without batteries, they shouldn't put two kinds of cards in the same card holder, and it helps to speak the same language as your clients or have a translator. If you aren't a psychic's assistant but the psychic yourself, Nicols tells you all you need to justify bilking, make that billing, your clients, for reasons ranging from entertainment to, interestingly enough, the privilege of spending time with you, the best in your field. Nicols doesn't have any ethical advice apparently because he believes his own press clippings--there are diagrams of "energy flow" between reader and client completed by money, and money, after all, is what the book is about. This book won't give you any psychic skills you don't already have--and you wouldn't want to challenge the author for the title of best, after all--but it will keep you from making stupid mistakes that sabotage your profits.
