Lund's "Healthy Exchange" system has been a boon to many dieters, especially those pursuing a diet for reasons more serious than simple weight loss. Her method of counting not only calories but also fats, carbohydrates, sodium, calcium, and fiber aids diabetics and others with nutritional disorders. Easy to follow, the recipes typify contemporary American cooking, but Lund does rely heavily on brand-name soups, sauces, and fat-reduced products to make her recipes meet nutritional goals. The more sophisticated cook will rapidly move to upgrade the recipes by substituting items such as fresh parsley for the dried version that appears in so many of Lund's entrees. Lund's faith and fervor suffuse her books, her eagerness to spread the good news of the benefits and good flavors of her healthy regimen apparent in her recipes' glosses. Mark Knoblauch

I just received my copy of 'Make A Joyful Table' and I am already taking notes on the recipes I want to try. Neither myself or my family have ever been disappointed in one of JoAnna's recipes and that includes 2 picky eaters...my husband & my 6yo son. And I own nearly all her cookbooks. All of her recipes are suitable for those who are wanting to regain & maintain good health...they are low in fat but high in flavor and suitable for diabetics but yet sweet and satisfying. They aren't gourmet and they call for ingredients that you can find in your local grocery store no matter where you live. Just delightful comforting old fashion (but easily) prepared common folk dishes that you can savor & enjoy without any guilt or regret!

A cookbook with a heart. Great recipies with normal ingredients! No feeling of being deprived with these recipies, and you still lose weight.

When I ordered this I had no idea how many of the meals I would like. I have made several now and they are flavorful and low in calories and fat. I have been a WW for 1 year and I even can make recipes that are on the Core plan. I love all of the choices and I hope that dieters will try this book, they won't be disappointed.
