The Perfect MATCH,
By Malaika Tamu "Sweet n' Sassy" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Make It Hot (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
WHEW...The heat is definitely on in the "Hightower Honors" series. The second installment is just as CAPTIVATING and heartwarming as the first. Joel Hightower is definitely a FORCE of NATURE. The story opens with Joel being seriously injured while fighting a fire. Samantha, a physical therapist, is instantly drawn to the injured firefighter and prays he makes it through his ordeal. Samantha is nervous and thrilled when she learns she'll be Joel's physical therapist; that is until she has her first session with him, she quickly discovers that although he's tall, dark and sexy-as-all-get-out, he's definitely NOT the playful, mischievous prankster she imagined, but a surly, EXTREMELY opinionated stud. And Joel has finally meet his match, because Samantha is not only beautiful, but she's also a sassy, VERY opinionated force to be reckoned with, and she gives him tit-for-tat. While their tempers flare and the sensual sparks fly, and they engage one another in witty and funny verbal debates, the flames of desire slowly flare to a FULL BLOWN mutual attraction that can not be contained. But will Samantha remain true to her promise to NEVER love a man with a dangerous job or will the intensity of Joel's love be too much for her to fight?!! Throughout this novel my heart went out to Sammie and all the DRAMA she had to endure with her mom. This installment has quite a few heart-wrenching and tender moments. And once again, the cast of characters is quite entertaining. And I can't wait to find out what's in store for Lawrence and Patrick.

Tragedy That Leads To Romance,
By
This review is from: Make It Hot (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Amazon Rating: 4.5/5
In the second installment of Gwyneth Bolton's Hightower Honors Series, readers are introduced to Joel Hightower, in Make It Hot. Like the other male members of his family, Joel has made a career as a fire fighter. Not only is he an outstanding fire fighter, he is also a community activist, little league coach, and big brother. Tragedy struck when Joel was seriously injured and the entire city of Paterson, New Jersey waited to see if he would survive. As he recovered from his injuries, Joel was scared that he would not be able to return to the career that he loved. Joel began physical therapy with Samantha Dash. Samantha is young, attractive and strictly work-oriented. Even though she was attracted to the handsome fire fighter, she refused to give in to the heat that was building within her every time he walked into a room. Make It Hot will make you feel the heat between Joel and Samantha as their relationship goes from patient/client, friends to lovers. As their relationship developed, both characters were forced to make drastic decisions about their careers and about themselves. I enjoyed the first book and found this one to be twice as entertaining. This is a series that should not be passed over and I eagerly wait to read the next story. Reviewed by: Priscilla C. Hot! Once the pages start cooking, they quickly catch on fire! An awesome love story that showcases the benefits and even the fears of falling in love.
Samamtha, a true professional, is afraid to love and afraid of her family's secets. However, all it takes is a Hightower to breakdown even the stongest. The strong Hightower men are every woman's dream. This read has hot love scenes that will make you read them twice. Pages flip quickly and steam up as the main character's fears are erased. The twist and turns and family woes makes it even better. Bolton has taken the firefighter from the front line of fighting fires to puting out all Samantha's fires and fears! From beginging to end, the chemistry is undeniably HOT. 5 Pink Diamonds Sistah Teesa of the SistahFriend Book Club

"My, My, My!" was all I could say when I finished reading the second book in the Hightower Series by Gwyneth Bolton. Joel Hightower is one of four brothers whose reason for living is to protect and save the lives of others. As a firefighter no fire is too hot for Joel. But in the twinkling of an eye, life, as he knows it changes. Joel is hurt doing what he loves best and there is a chance he may not recover. The love and support of his family, as well as, his extended family of firemen and policemen keep his spirits up. But Joel's problems run deeper. Will he ever be able to fight another fire?
Physical Therapist Samantha Dash has issues of her own, but vows to do her job to the best of her ability. When she is assigned to Joel's case, she is determined to get this handsome Hightower brother up and moving. As she does her job, will Joel be faced with a hot fire of a different nature? The intensity and drama which plays throughout this story will have you praying for his full recovery, hoping Samantha will find her inner peace, and wanting to strangle Joel's meddling Aunt Sophie. Gwyneth did a superior job blending determination, stubbornness, courage and love into a style that puts you in the center of the story. Each scene flowed as if it were running water. I enjoyed re-visiting the family members from Protect and Serve, the first book in the series, especially Jason and Penney. Aunt Sophie is a different story. MAKE IT HOT took me back to where my love for romance novels began; when we could count our African American authors on one hand. Keep writing these types of stories Gwyneth, and I'll keep reading. I was told about these books from a friend, and beleive me these are the type of books where a fan needs to be close by so you can cool yourself off as you read. I reccommend this one and the other two that are in this series. When you finish the first one, you'll be looking for the other two because, you will want to find out what happens to the other brothers.

This book is Hot! I love the "Hightower" series. I enjoyed Joel and his ability to go after what he wanted....Samantha. Even though he faced the possibility of not going back to being a firefighter, he did not let his pride stop him from falling in love. The author did a good job of finding the "spitfire" that could stand up to a man like Joel and the hateful Aunt Sophie. The chemisty was amazing and the love scenes sizzled.
It was also good to catch up with Penny and Jason from the first series. I am looking forward to the next Hightower man falling in love.

If you play with fire, you may get burned...,
This review is from: Make It Hot (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Hightower men return in the second installment of this series. Joel Hightower is seriously injured in a warehouse fire leaving the family distraught. Samantha Dash, single physical therapist, is on duty upon his arrival. His eyes captivated her even though he couldn't see her because of the trauma and pain. It was divine intervention that 6 months later Joel would be referred to Samantha's clinic. Their first encounter was hectic at best. Over the next few months their competitive spirits got the best of them and arguing became the norm. Will either of them be able to let down their guard enough to see love in their future?
Bolton combines the sexy allure of the Hightower family with the determination of Samantha Dash. Samantha turns her sad past into a promising future as she learns to forgive and finally embrace the idea of new relationships. Joel learns how to enjoy life while opening his heart to others. The supporting cast of characters adds humor and drama to the storyline. MAKE IT HOT is a fast paced, easy to read romance that will make you talk out loud to the characters (Aunt Sophie especially) and remind you why family gatherings are so enjoyable. Hopefully, Bolton will keep supplying us with loving stories of the Hightower's for years to come. Deltareviewer Reviewing for Real Page Turners

This is book two of the series about the handsome Hightower brothers. This time it is about Joel who receives a possibly career ending injury while working a fire. He ends up being the patient of physical therapist Samantha Dash. He gives her attitude because he is devastated that his career as a firefighter is over and takes it out on her. She gives as good as she gets and he ends up admiring her more and more. Enter Aunt Sophie again giving her grief as she attempted to do with Penny and Jason to keep them apart. She takes it to far with Samantha and almost causes her to lose her job. The confrontation with these two will have you crying from laughing so hard. Samantha has issues with her Mother that will have you mad at her Mom one minute and crying the next. I won't give it all away but this story is hot as well as a great read. Now I am anxiously waiting for the next installment of this series.

Joel and Samantha are hot!,
This review is from: Make It Hot (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
It is not often that you find a series where the 2nd book is as good as the first. Ms. Bolton has done it with the Hightowers! I loved this book as much as the first. I truly enjoyed Joel's tenacity and Samantha sticking to her guns! Once Joel made up his mind, he was not backing down. Love a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. Again, the character development is phenomenal. I can truly say that Sophie could not be in my family. Love it when they go t her. SHE DESERVES IT!!!! The interactions with the brothers once again show you how close they all are. Love Samantha's friend and how she keeps it real!!! Great job!

I love the Hightower Series. I recommend on first read To Be sure to get a Sample first. Then read the inside cover since these are a series probably best to read these In Order. But you know, these were so good, if you get one out of line, it'd be okay too. Love, Lust, Men of Honor and lots of drama. You can't lose.
