If you want to make an eBook with Mobipocket this is one of the best books I've read on the subject. This book works best if you first go to agoodread dot com and download the eBook macro and then view the four free videos (one which shows you how to download a text editor called Crimson Editor and how to add the macro) available at the site.

You will need to give your name and email address to get access to the videos. They are completely worth watching. I haven't taken the seventy dollar course (four videos are free but you have to pay for the rest) and thought maybe reading this book would be sufficient.

I will say some of the things in this book are a little complex. I'd recommend reading the book one time to get a feel for the entire situation. Then read the book again while you follow all the steps. You will basically be learning how to write HTML code. If you have a book in Word or Open Office you can copy and paste the entire document into Crimson Editor and then add the HTML which is fairly easy once you get a handle on it.

Sure it is mind boggling at first but if you watch the free videos you will see it is actually quite easy after all. So what will this book exactly teach you how to do. First it will teach you how to write clean HTML. This is essential if you want to upload your ebook to Amazon's DTP program. What this book will do is take you from step one all the way to the final steps of uploading your document. There is a lot to learn and I think this book is essential if you are going to first create a file in Crimson Editor and then put your book together in Mobipocket.

This book will also explain how you can see what your book will look like before you upload your eBook to Amazon. This is essential! With this book and the free videos and programs you will really be writing code and feel so accomplished.

So get this book but also realize that it will be much easier to understand if you check out the author's website for step-by-step video instructions. I may take the course eventually but so far I've been able to survive with this book and the free videos.

P.S. I took the Kindle eBook Course and absolutely loved it. I now have a .prc file that I can upload to amazon. You can take the course in about two days, read your book on your Kindle to check the formatting and then publish easily. Judith explains everything you need to know and guides you each step of the way.

If you are an aspiring Kindle author (and I assume you are), and this just happens to be your first stop in your research on how to publish an e-book on Kindle, then I have GREAT news for you! Look/research NO FARTHER!!!

My single regret after finding Judith's site (AGoodRead.com) and ultimately her personal 'bible' on publishing, was that I didn't find it FIRST!! I'm serious folks, this lady takes you by the hand and walks you through the process in such a flowing way that you will be up and running in no time!

In other words, if you already have the contents of an e-book and are just trying to figure out how to get it on Amazon, you're just (insert amount of time it takes to read this guide here) this close! Even if you don't have the contents of an e-book ready to go, you will still want this guide!!

Sorry but my review is going to end here as I am working on the completion of my own project. I felt compelled to write this review, not only because it is truly excellent but also because Judith is one to respond to you 'after-the-sale' as well.

Earlier this summer, I was fumbling and floundering about in trying to understand how to get my manuscript on the Kindle. Some of the other books kept telling you how easy it was to convert it to an HTML file. They also warned that their methods cause problems but I was no closer in understanding HOW TO DO IT. This, despite having written my own HTML code for my webpages.

These other books described how you could automatically create an HTML from a Microsoft Word Document. Now I had an additional problem. I use an older DOS word processor for my writing and I had imported my files into Word and saved them as a *.DOC files. One problem was that the grammar checker would attempt to correct the spacing problem in the document and would fail for who knows what reason. I would change the fonts, save the file, and come back and find the old fonts were back. ??? Then, I also found that when I merged my individual chapters in Word to a single file, Word itself would crash. So it was not feasible for me to create an HTML file automatically from a single DOC file.

Luckily, Judith Tramayne left a comment on an Adobe InDesign site about her course and book. After linking to her site, I bought the course and this book after her description of the process. While the process is tedious, it is easy to understand. She provides you with all the information you need to create the book in a Kindle file in a well organized step-by-step method. If you want it done right (and why would you not?), this is the easier way. She uses a programming editor with macros that are just great. Highly recommended.
