5.0 out of 5 stars Most Profound Book I've Ever Read on Love, February 12, 2010

This review is from: Make Love Your Aim (Hardcover)
Two word summary: "Love intervenes." You couldn't spend better money than to purchase this concise yet conversational book on love. The author's bottom line was that in order to truly love someone you must do many things that will appear unloving. Her argument is that you can't think about yourself or how it might be easier for you to just let things go. That's not love.

You have to look long-term and, if necessary, lovingly confront the hard situations of life that come up as you deal with your spouse, children, parents, co-workers, etc. In the end, it's a book about being proactive. If you wait, if you don't confront, if you do not pro-actively love others, then you will inevitably watch the situation worsen and you will end up greatly grieved over your unloving inaction. A profound, inspired writing which defines love in traditionally passive terms (listening, forgiving, caring) but adds a distinguishing component: selfless, proactive love!
