(3) IMDb 6.9/10

In MAKE ME YOUNG: YOUTH KNOWS NO PAIN, an age-obsessed daughter of a plastic surgeon (filmmaker Mitch McCabe) takes a journey through America's $60 billion a year anti-aging world. In this Alice-in-Wonderland tale, McCabe spends two years travelling across America visiting doctors, experts and lives with a cross-section of characters from Minnesota to Texas who've gone to varying lengths to "beat the clock." Interwoven with these stories are the filmmaker's own self inquiry and memories of growing up around her father -- a Vietnam War trauma surgeon turned small town plastic surgeon. As the film chronicles the rise of the Anti-Aging industry through regular Americans, it hints at a nostalgia for a more innocent time when plastic surgery was used primarily for reconstruction in a pre-Botox era, to paint a funny, but troubling portrait of a country that desperately needs to stay forever young. Along the way, one wonders if the filmmaker herself hasn't been pulled in by the seduction of youth.

The title of this documentary seemed promising but it didn't quite deliver. I would have liked for the filmmaker to dig deeper and explore what the youth obsession of our society means for all of us and how it is likely to impact us in the future. Also, she could have addressed what is really at the bottom of this youth obsession. Instead this film is just a series of interviews with some more or less youth obsessed people. I also thought, that the film could have benefited from better editing because it seemed almost like a home movie at times. Overall, it was just okay.

I felt this documentary was well done, very creative and the narrator was very down to earth. I loved how well she put the information together, I loved her philosophy and narrative, as well as her personal thoughts throughout the documentary. Very well done.

In the Documentary, I can't believe how some of the woman nitpicked at the narrators/film maker's face, I understand being judgmental of your own appearance sometimes, but to point your judgment at another person is a bit too much. it worked for the message of this documentary though! Anyway, I am not against plastic surgery, botox, implants etc... it's your body do what you want! if you don't think botox is "right" or natural or what evs... then don't do it your self.

I was a bit shocked at times during the documentary just at how the woman viewed "aging gracefully". My philosophy on beauty doesn't match these woman, at all! They wanted to "age gracefully" by buying expensive creams and treatments instead of eating right, exercising and using simple natural creams, creams with antioxidants, things like that. I believe beauty comes from the inside out, if you don't take care of your health, no amount of botox, boob jobs, "wrinkle cures" are going to make you "age gracefully".

That was kind of a rant. Haha anyway, definitely worth watching! I was a bit disappointed with the narrators choice at the end but it was up to her and I do respect her decision to do what ever makes her happiest.
