Foreclosures are among the hottest real estate investments in the country and a launching pad for many a real estate fortune. But most investors don't know that there are even more great moneymaking opportunities in abandoned properties. This is the only book available that focuses solely on this increasingly popular form of investing. Packed with information and insight readers will find nowhere else, this one-of-a-kind guide shows investors how to find abandoned properties, write an irresistible offer, acquire the title, find new buyers, and turn a maximum profit at resale.

People abandon their homes for a variety of reasons—from financial distress to natural disasters. Their homes might be a financial burden to them, but they're a possible goldmine for savvy real estate investors. In Make Money in Abandoned Properties, you'll learn how to help struggling owners out of their financial burden while helping yourself to a healthy profit.

Plenty of real estate guides focus on foreclosures, but this is the only one that exclusively covers the abandoned property market. It offers a proven and effective system for investing, including tips on writing offers that owners can't refuse. Inside you'll find handy tools and tips, as well as unbeatable guidance like: Ten tips for finding abandoned properties; five techniques for locating owners; five keys to the foolproof offer; and four ways to obtain financing. More than that, you'll use less of your own money when you learn how to finance your purchases after you make a deal with the owners.

If you want to get into the lucrative world of real estate and start making money now, this is the book for you. From finding the right properties, to negotiating with owners, to renovating and reselling, to getting out of deals that start to go South, this guide covers everything you need to know about investing in abandoned properties. 2.0 out of 5 stars A re-hash of their last book, June 18, 2007

This review is from: Make Money in Abandoned Properties: How to Identify and Buy Vacant Properties and Make a Huge Profit (Hardcover)
An abandoned property doesn't necessarily mean it's empty, forgotten, and run-down--it just means nobody cares about it any more (and may still be living inside).

This book is comprised of mostly the material from their last book "Short Sales and Foreclosure Purchases." They simply added a new twist to an old rope, slapped a new cover on it, and released it as another book. Funny how that works with the public.

"Abandoned" can mean abandoned of debts, physical abandonment, or mental abandonment (a "don't wanter")--in any case, these homes are all purchased the same way, regardless of owner circumstance. Then, they're all fixed and flipped (or kept) the same way. Nothing new here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but scattered information, January 9, 2007
By
This review is from: Make Money in Abandoned Properties: How to Identify and Buy Vacant Properties and Make a Huge Profit (Hardcover)
Clearly the authors have a very comprehensive and rich knowledge of the real estate market and they share a great deal of valuable information in this book. The problem with the book is that although it makes the attempt of being methodical, the authors often get swept into tangential discussions within any particular section. It reads more like a narrative with subsections of glossary-like listings. This, unfortunately, causes the book to be scattered, and is useless for any reference purposes. For instance, the book describes the advantages of purchases from Fanny May, illustrated by a personal story, in the section dedicated to locating distressed sellers. I can see the logic of how they got there, but this would hardly be the logical place for such a lengthy excursion, in my opinion. I think the book could stand a significant revision for purposes of clarity and structure. Again, a lot of information is there to excavate, just not laid out in the best manner.
