Excellent value, well worth the money,

This review is from: How to Make Money Scoring Soundtracks and Jingles (Paperback)
A great introduction and simple step by step guide to working the music production business. Good solid guidelines applicable to even international readers. I have applied these techniques in New Zealand and they work very well over here! Some real gold in the setting your fee chapter. Also the focus on marketing throughout keeps you focussed on the job of selling. I highly urge anybody who is looking for an overall guide to music production business to get this book.

This is a fantastic book! Everything you need to start an at-home music-production business is described in detail, especially how to promote yourself. I made $1,000 within four months of using Jeffrey's techniques!

I'm pretty disappointed with this book.It is a very good practical approach to business and marketing, but you could easily replace every instance of "music" or "jingle" with "widget," and have essentially the same book! The author makes the assumption that every musician who can compose music already knows the construction of a jingle. He assumes that we all write jingles, we just need to know how to sell them. He in no way addresses the format, form, or content of advertising jingles. These were the reasons I purchased this book, so I ended up getting nothing but a meandering discussion of how to promote myself.

"Cash Tracks..." in an indepensable guide about how to get on with the business side of being creative within the music scoring world (a side which is sorely overlooked).
It presents no end of ideas, tried and tested successfully, which can imrove your music business strategy and start you making MONEY from music. Please don't be put off by the "life is great!!!" american-ness of it all, this guy-heck, this book-is a full on money making machine. Practical, down-to-earth. Invaluable.

This is a great book --- and I've read most on the market.
I've discovered working with musicians and composers that they may know their music history, theory and chord changes, but are really lack know-how in business and financial matters. That's a big mistake that leads to many staying at the same mediocre career level. Knowledge is power -- and usually leads to a bigger salary! The "right" knowledge that is. And this book points a savvy composer in the right direction. (I think it's interesting that a musician won't hesitate to spend $$$ on a new piece of gear or a plug-in but hesitates to spend a few bucks on self-improvement in business.) BTW, the pros featured have "real world" experience in their areas of expertise which is additionally helpful. The biggest selling point: I've learned a lot, have applied it, and seen my business and client list grow. It's practical, sound advice from a guy who knows what he's talking about. If you want to take your career to the next level, 1.) buy and 2.) READ this book. Then 3.) APPLY what you've learned. You won't be sorry. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Best of luck!

I found this book to be full of very useful information about the commercial side of the music business. It's well written and covers a wide range of important topics. It also divulges a lot of information that I have not seen anywhere else.
If you're interested in this aspect of the music biz this book is a must-have. Well done.
