Book Description

Make More. Worry Less. Everyone wants to do that—but how? And how can you do it within the organization, where most people will spend their entire working lives? This book has the answers. No academic theory here: Make More, Worry Less brings together 18 riveting stories from people who’ve achieved both of these goals, gaining surprising wealth and real peace of mind along the way.

These aren’t superheroes. They’re ordinary people who’ve done the extraordinary: from fast-food worker Linda Robb, now earning a six-figure income at Aflac, to once lowly telemarketer Steve Hudson, now running business development at one of the most promising start-up companies in the nation. Author and radio host Wes Moss reveals the powerful lessons these individuals have learned. Better yet, he shows how you can use those lessons to take ownership of your life and career, earning more money than you ever thought possible.

But that’s only half the equation! Moss also shows how to handle your increased success with less stress, fewer worries, and greater happiness.

Every single story in this book is accompanied by specific tips, tricks, steps to take, and mistakes to avoid: actionable information you can use right now. If you want to change your life, start right here.

            Harness what you have

Find it, create it, or tweak what you have

Underestimate your obstacles

Stop wasting time thinking about what you can’t do

Notice your network—and make the most of it

Earning friendships, building alliances, finding mentors

Take the first step, today

You know what to do: learn how to get past whatever’s stopping you

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Moss proposes fresh ways to succeed in a corporate environment using the four-step HUNT method he established in his first book, a primer on entrepreneurship called Starting from Scratch: Harness what you have, Underestimate your obstacles, Notice your network and Take the first (or next) step. The book's four parts cover each leg of the acronym, and each of the 18 chapters are tied to a specific individual's success story on the frontlines of such companies as Ogilvy Public Relations, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Warner Music, Coca-Cola and GE. Narratives are mined for principles ("Keep it simple") and practical tips (put off casual reading in favor of "thinking through the coming meeting") while keeping a steady eye on the big picture-moving forward and building momentum. Conversational and straightforward, this guide to sensible career advancement should prove useful and encouraging for those new to the workforce, as well as those stuck on the lower rungs of the corporate ladder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring! November 29, 2011

It's like reading Dale Carnegie's "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living," but with examples from modern day that are more relate-able. The book has a great message that, if we are passionate about what we do, then we don't have to worry about what we reap from it.

Could not put this book down! Everybody reads alot of good ideas and many are soon forgotten.....Wes gave me something to remember with "Wes's Worry Less Tips" one of which will stay with me forever - conquer worry with "worst case scenario". The one "tip" alone is worth purchasing this book many times over.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Light on Usable Info March 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book does contain a little decent info, but nothing earth-shattering. Overall, it is a bit lacking in real, usable information. However, if you are looking for a lightweight primer on creating more income, then you may get some motivation from the examples in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a helpful book. August 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I didn't read this book because I want to make lots of money. Someone else recommended it to me. But I have to say, I have gained so much benefit from reading it. The author rights in an easily readable way. He gives very practical suggestions. From the book, there are 3 suggestions that I read that have changed the way I do things. I'm so glad I read it. Although, I will never be the head of coca cola, or any other major organisation, and I don't wish to give up my time to be in a role like that. That hasn't negated the benefit for me in reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Positive reinforcement for entrepreneurs August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This well written book is advice and encouragement for the new or would be entrepreneur. I thought it was arranged well by the author and did contain some useful strategies for success. I thought some of the chapters could have spent a little more time relating to those who were trying to achieve success rather than those who already had, and at times I found the subject matter to get a bit repetitive. For anyone who is looking for advice on how to begin setting up their own business, this may not be the book for you, as there is not a lot of concrete steps to follow. If you are looking for a way to help grow your mindset and be more receptive to possibilities as an entrepreneur then look no farther. This book teaches the reader to have a positive outlook and take small steps toward success and sustainability. Over all I thought this was an informative and intelligent read.

3.0 out of 5 stars I had expected more than a bunch of stories July 19, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I've read a ton of self help books and I bought this book based on it's very good average rating. Well, it was a good book but I had much higher expectations for concrete ideas rather than story telling. I understand why the author went this route, people like to read success stories. The problem I have with that is everyone has a success story and I would like to see some common traits that can be practiced and help the reader get his own success story. I respect the author's background, being in financial services myself, but more concrete steps rather than stories would have made me feel like this book was worth reading.
