I bought Scott's "The Power of Approachability" and "How To Be That Guy" and they were worth every penny. However, "Make a Name for Yourself" was a waste of $19.99. Sadly, I suspect he has run out of good ideas and useful concepts. So, my advice is to skip this book and order his two earlier books or you will be kicking yourself like I am.

Scott Ginsberg is a unique guy, and this is a unique book. It won't take you long to read it, but the ideas in it will stick with you for a long time. It's one of those books you should keep near your desk or bedside table. Refer to it often. Flip to any page and you'll find a nugget of truth, an idea that can help you improve your focus, move forward in your business, just generally get your sh%^%$&%^t together. And oh yeah... It's funny.

The third book from Scott (The Nametag Guy) and self-described as 55 Strategies to Fast-Track Your Professional Prowess, reads like a collection of blogs on a wide range of topics helping you to "make a name for yourself, because no one else will." Replete with quotes from every imaginable source (and some unimaginable), his practical, in your face advice includes the following gems:

Fans, not customers.
Nobody notices normal.
Opportunity knocks daily.
Prepare for serendipity.
Usefulness is worship.
Don't be friendly, be approachable.
Don't be different, be unique.
Don't be some guy, be That Guy.

As a result, you won't just be memorable; you will be unforgettable. You will make a name for yourself.

"Don't try to be different. In fact, don't try to be anything. Just be. Be yourself. Be the same person no matter where you go. As a result, you WILL be unique. And people will notice. Because there's nothing more approachable than authenticity."

Inspiring, in your face and eminently practical.
