5.0 out of 5 stars Love AOE!!, February 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Make a Pest a Pet (Audio CD)
I just bought this album for the second time after misplacing my copy from about 10 years ago and it still is amazing! I love AOE and miss them to death. Their music was creative, edgy, poetic and totally awesome! Todd and Ryan both have amazing voices and they are beautifully showcased on this album. I definitely recommend Ryan Dahle's album "I/O" (IN/OUT) from his band Limblifter that came out in 2004. I got it from itunes for only 10 bucks, and it blew my freaking socks off. Good, un-rightfully recognized, Canadian rock. Brings back great memories, love 'em to death!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the only CD they have..., June 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Make a Pest a Pet (Audio CD)
It is a shame that The Age Of Electric is no longer together (it must be at least 6 years since they broke up...) however, for you US fans out there, this was not their only album! In 1993-1994, they released a self-titled album probably only in Canada. It is by far... by FAR a much better album than this one. So if you have a chance to pick it up (I've seen it in used record stores for very cheap up here), I strongly recommend it. Their first single 'Untitled' to this day is still one of my favorite tracks.

Also, the two members of The Age of Electric who were brothers started a side project called Limblifter. They only made one album, but it is great.

Side note, this album Make a Pest a Pet is good, but a little too refined and radio-ready. Regardless, its found a good home in my CD collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Album From An Underrated Band, March 29, 2004

I wonder why The Age of Electric called it quits after only one cd. This music is quite unique sounding and it's a shame this never got the attention it should have. It is sort of original I would have to say. I never used to care much for this cd, but I realize now that it is pretty damn good quality stuff.

If you want good music that just so happens to be very underrated, this is the music for you and you should like it if you like originality in music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never Forget!, December 10, 2003

Okay, it's been awhile since this CD came out, but it's ALWAYS been in rotation since I bought it. If you are Canadian, you can't help but feel proud to have been born in the same country that produced a band like this. It has nothing to do with where they came from, but you just feel compelled to find a way to connect yourself to their music.
The CD is sooooo unique. It's pop, it's rock, it's alternative, it's AMAZING!!!!
-Started out as a Platinum Blonde cover band and Todd still kinda sings with that weirdo fake british accent coming through every now and then. It only makes the songs sound better!!! LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! An album like this should never be forgotten...

4.0 out of 5 stars Third and semi-short, October 10, 2002

Yes, I must agree with the other two reviews. This is a great album. And I remember seeing "Remote Control" and "I Don't Mind" on Much Music back in late '97 and thinking THIS is good music, why don't I see this in the US ever? They definitely have a unique sound, and I really wish they had come out with more albums. I did hear them mentioned on the radio when I was up in Canada over a year ago though. Spend the money to get this cd, you'll be happy you did.

This album is to be a great Canadian recording from the Kerns and Dahle Brothers "The Age Of Electric". Should be noticed more for music fans in the U.S. Now no longer together!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great band, great album, February 2, 2006

It was a dark day when Age of Electric broke up! They are an amazing Canadian band and they put on an excellent live show. It is a shame that they did not get much, if any, air play in the US and likely that was part of what split them up. Their previous CD was a better CD, but this one still has a few catchy tunes that keep it in my CD rotation still to this day. I strongly recommend checking out Todd Kerns album (was the lead singer...the guy has an amazing voice!), of of course the great Limblifter (made up of the Dahle brothers)!

I bought this CD in the summer of '98 and since then it has been one of my favourites. I know you probably have never heard of this band before, but they are amazing. They have a really unique sound, I've never heard anything like them. Everything's great on here, the poetic, abstract lyrics; the vocals, and the instruments are all great. My favoutrite tracks are "Remote Control", "I Don't Mind", "Nothing Happens" and "Mad at the world". Great CD.
